700 Years after Christ, satan needed a religion.
I suggest you study the Hebrew in Genesis 16. Ishmael was born first, and the promise the "angel of the Lord" gave to Hagar for what he was to become was upon him well before Abraham took Isaac to the mountain. Why did make that promise? Well, Hagar called him the name of the Lord.
Gosh, which "angel of the Lord" would that be?
What is it to be a "wild ass of a man"? Well, wild asses can be nasty in disposition, disobedient, and ill disposed to work. They hide from the light in the day (see: "Irad" from the Genesis 4 genealogy of Cain). They move from mare to mare without a care.
Now, what happens when a promiscuous and vicious male dwells in your tents everywhere? His "features" will be in every man. That's what it says. As to the "hand," it could just as easily be a raised phallus. Yep a violent, promiscuous, creep.
Now if that all doesn't point to whom this "angel of the Lord" really was, then you are asleep. All in return for her having called him G_d.
The book was written by shepherds. Shepherds don't mince words with urbane niceties. Best we understand it that way.
