Another easy solution.

Dumb down the standards, testings and qualifications and enforce quotas for blacks.

Affirmative actions. It’s been the norm in civillian life for decades now. Let the military have a go at it.

Hell, they’ve already dumbed down the standards for women in combat roles, why not keep the ball rolling?

This is just sad and disgusting. Our screwed up society is gaining ground in the military. In the 1970’s I had as a Law Enforcement Officer in the USAFE, I had a shift supervisor that was black and my first training officer was black. I respected and got along with both. Because they were good at their jobs not because of a skin color.In the military you need to have the BEST PERSON possible in the position of leadership. Not a white man or a black man or a women. The Best Person.

I guess that it would be beyond sociologic understanding that promoting on the basis on merit and ability could have sociologically beneficial effects.

Promoting from the basis of merit would engender a more successful organization. A more successful organization would build moral. An organization with good moral retains more experienced people for longer periods of time. More experienced people work more efficiently and produce a better product. A better product attracts better people to the organization.

As you can see promoting on the basis of merit is one of the keys to a progressively better organization.

Well, since you can't be an officer unless you have a college degree.

I guess the answer is to look at the percentage of blacks that have college degrees and compare that to the 10% number mentioned in the article.

it turns out that the percentage of blacks with college degrees is about 20%

so... blacks make up 13% of the population

so if only 20% of those 13% have college degrees...
that means that for blacks to be fairly represented, they would have to hold 2.6% of all officer positions.

The article states they currently hold 10% ...

so...

That means there are FOUR TIMES more blacks in officer positions than their should be already.

I would venture to say the lack of logical thinking was probably the cause for the low number of racial quotas being filled. After all, you have to think logically to be a real leader and if that statement needs proving simply look at all of the potential “leaders” in Ferguson, Mo..

“Proof is in the pudding” that logical thinking and the ability to rationally think simply does not exist in some large masses of people.

In 1969 at Fort Ord, my drill sgt, 1st sgt and mess sgt as well as others were black.

I've seen blacks at all levels in the Army but I've never seen a black Seal. Anybody?

Same during my career in the Air Force. . .all EEOC offices were staffed exclusively with Blacks, females, some sort of minority. . .or a combination thereof. As a White male, how could you expect a fair investigation from such a lynch-mob? You can’t. The EEOC office was there only to determine the length of the rope to hang you, not to investigate if you were to be hanged to begin with.

Indeed. . .based on commercials these days, at least HALF of all family units are mixed races.

Best diverse commercial so far was the handicapped White Male with Black female wife with a mixed race child. . .hitting all the bases.

Who knew they were such a large segment of the population that advertisers would go after their business.

You should have seen the stink I stirred up at Gordon when I filed a “formal complaint” as to why there was no white history month. After some mis-communication (purposeful I believe) from the EO rep I eventually ended up in the BN CO’s office being asked about the “white rally” I was attempting to organize on post. I was on orders to PCS a few months later.

The PCS was a dream come true for me as I hated Georgia and PCS’d to Hawaii.

The Navy does have black SEALs, but they’re a tiny percentage of that force.
