If Scotland can secede, so can Texas
Yahoo ^ | September 10, 2014 | Risk Newman

Global markets are suddenly jittery about the prospect that Scotland, after 307 years as part of the United Kingdom, could become its own country if Scots vote for independence in a Sept. 18 referendum. If proud but tiny Scotland can do it — which polls suggest is a distinct possibility — then America’s 28th state, Texas, will certainly take notice.

If any state is fed up with the rest of America, it’s Texas. Republican Gov. Rick Perry floated the idea of seceding from the United States in 2009, though he later backpedaled. A petition for Texas to “withdraw" from the United States, lodged on the White House’s “We the People” Web page, gathered 125,000 signatures before voting closed in 2013. A group called the Texas Nationalist Movement has nearly 190,000 likes on Facebook.

Texas might need to succeed before being taken over by Californians, Yanks and Latin Americans migrating/immigrating in.

Start negotiating with Oklahoma and Lousiana - they would probably join in.

Why should Texas have to secede... they didn’t do anything wrong. It should be DC that secedes from the 50 states.

This is the ol’ hubby/wife argument - “why should I leave” “no, YOU leave”.

Scotland is different. They are concerned about the growing influence of Muslims in England and the potential that their push for Sharia Law could eventually spill over and...

Do it, and I’m on my way there. I don’t know if anyone will hire a newly out of work, conservative, God-fearing, in-house attorney, but maybe I can flip burgers for $15 an hour...

When the US splits, and it will, I will move to the Texas region.

For quite a while, ever since I became convinced that the US,as 50 states, was unsalvageable,I've been a huge supporter of secession for the “red” states.I'd move to North Carolina and some welfare sponge from a red state can move to Massachusetts. It's a win/win situation.I get to live among decent, respectable, hard working folks and the vermin of the red states get even more welfare, more sex change operations,more...well,you know.

Too soon to think of session-—When —and if—that day comes—Texas will not be alone. there will be a new CSA—Constitutional States of America. the capital will be in Houston or Dallas. It will consist of most of the old CSA and some western states. Save your Confederate money boys—the South Shall rise again.

It would be so cool if they would secede. I would apply for citizenship. Even better if they did bring Oklahoma with them.

Such a big problem is our government is run by liberals due to such populated places having more electoral votes. Where I live, Kansas, we have one or two so basically the midwest really has no say. A friend brought this to my attention - How America would look if they would split the states due to population - then each state would have more representation in government.

If anything I would expect the “fly over” states to take over the rest of the country and create enclosures for the leftists. (manhattan and LA)

Well, it’s good to know some part of the British Empire sees the danger and will still talk about it. Some parts of Ireland have already become no-go zones to non-muslims. Any day now, I expect to see Cameron announce that he is “considering a change of his own faith to muslim. Just considering.” When enough Saudis own enough of Englands’ landmarks and control enough of their biggest industries, they may demand that he convert if he wants their money.

There is so much new biz in Texas that you’d almost certainly find plenty of work!

What a tragic end it would be to a great union, just like ours, that had contributed so much to the world. Instead of advocating secession everywhere, perhaps you should work with other like-minded people from across the US to make the whole country a better place.

Besides, didn’t Texas try this once already before it got whipped back into line by Abraham Lincoln and the Feds?
