D.C. Sixth-Grade Teacher Has Students Compare Hitler, Bush
NBC4 Washington ^ | 9/11/14 | Derrick Ward

A D.C. sixth-grade teacher will apologize for an assignment that asked students to draw comparisons between former President George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler. The McKinley Middle School teacher sent students home with a Venn diagram and asked them to compare and contrast Bush and Hitler. At least one parent found it troubling on a number of levels. He told News4 he sees a certain lack of respect for the office of the president. And the instructions read "both men who abused their powers," which the parent said presents opinion as fact.

D.C. Public Schools released a statement late Wednesday saying the teacher has admitted poor judgment and will apologize to students. The statement explained the students are in a War and Peace unit in which they consider “when conflict is warranted.” The complete statement: “The District of Columbia Public Schools provides teachers with an English-Language Arts curriculum that outlines the topics, texts, and standards to be taught within instructional units, while allowing teachers the flexibility to decide the best approach and day-to-day lessons for their students. One of the units at the beginning of the year is about War and Peace, allowing students to explore different perspectives and determine when conflict is warranted, and when peace should prevail. This week, a DCPS teacher created a worksheet to assign as homework which asked students to compare and contrast President George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler, after reading two texts. No DCPS curriculum materials suggest in any way that teachers should compare the texts in this manner or compare Hitler to any other individual. “The teacher admits to extremely poor judgment and short sightedness and will apologize to students. The school will also send a letter home to families explaining the incident and offering to address any additional questions should they

They do not have sufficient honor to do that.

Just heard about this on WMAL...
= = = = = = = = = = = =
Am sure C Plante will ‘overdo’ this today. <:

WRC(NBC4) had it as on of their ‘teasers’ last night and actually did a decent job of it.
They showed the ‘offending’ paper, actually said the PARENTS were the ones complaining about it.
AND ‘broke in’ near the end of the broadcast saying that EVERYONE would be groveling and back tracking today.

McKinley MS is the former McKinley HS which is in a predominately non white (would imagine NO white students unless ‘bused’ in).

We used to have an Asphalt Plant near the school so the neighborhood is(was) mixed use we had armed private security and dogs with a 20’ fence topped with wire.

And this was in the 80’s and YES, the fence and dogs were needed

Back in the 60’s/70’s had a plant in Arlington VA in the middle of a like neighborhood and it wasn’t bad at first since most of the people in the neighborhood WORKED for the companies surrounding the hood so employees and vehicles etc were pretty well protected.

That started to change as the ‘fruits of LBJ’ kicked in after the WORKING male was kicked out.

I guess that means a locked room, a bottle of whisky, and a pistol with one cartridge won’t do the job either.

I’m sure they’ll next compare:

Eric Holder and Valerie Jarrett to Heinrich Himmler,

Barack Hussein Obama to Stalin, Mao and Hitler,

Our Democrat crony economy to Germany’s 1940 National Socialist economy,

American gun grabbing to gun grabbing in Germany in 1940,

And Obama and historic cults of personality.

Yeah, right...

There are some similarities that could be made betweeen FDR and Hitler concerning applied socialism, control of the monetary system, segregating a minority during wartime, building up the military, etc. Lots of opportunity to discuss the differences as well. Of course a liberal isn’t going to say anything that could be construed as bad about FDR.

I’d rather compare Hitler and Obama. Obama has done more damage to America than Hitler did. The socialist in our White House is a far more serious danger to our freedom than his fellow socialist from Germany.

It was covered on WMAL this morning, it’s on the WMAL top-of-the-hour news, and on Drudge. I’m sure Piercey has heard and/or seen it — plus, Plante is too focused on ISIS and the Obama speech of last night. Also, it’s 9/11...

Maybe he’ll discuss tomorrow.

Can you give me the gist of what Gail was talking about? I turned Plante off at 11am...

Best!
