I am going to go out on a limb here and propose that black inner city kids in the 6th grade, could not adequately compare and contrast Corn Flakes and Frosted Flakes.

"Unreal" is not a word that I would have chosen. The statement explained the students are in a War and Peace unit in which they consider “when conflict is warranted.” far beyond a sixth graders comprhension. For example, a pacifist would argue that conflict is never warranted.

Perhaps a better use of the students English-Language Arts curriculum time might be diagraming sentences.
