Has anyone noticed the disconnect between the comments on threads of this type, and those on the Ferguson threads? There seems to be a general assumption that the officer in Ferguson was fully justified in shooting Mr. Brown, who at least according to some accounts may have simply refused to obey a police order quickly enough. I don’t know what really happened in Ferguson, and neither does anybody else posting to this forum. I just find it odd that the cases described above are taken as evidence that the cops are out of control, but the cop in Ferguson is given much more the benefit of the doubt.

My issue with Furguson was that cops can not be trusted to investigation their own. They've proven it over and over again that there are no real investigations of a cop.

I also sometimes wonder if the “police brutality” complained of by black people for decades, but generally dismissed by many of us, may just be moving out of the ghetto into Main Street. IOW, might they have had a point all along?"

It was never about race, though blacks thought it was. It is about power over others, the drug of choice for cops. They were just the easiest victims.

My personal interactions with cops have been few, but with one exception very professional, even the one where they almost blew my head off by mistake.

Most of my encounters with cops, they had nothing but 'tude. Like I, an ordinary innocent person, wasn't worth the slightest respect at all by a public servant. I have yet to meet a cop who wasn't as arrogant as Lucifer telling God that He was in his seat.

“I’m very law and order but it is getting more and more clear that numerous police officers have SEAL Team six fantasies dancing in their minds.”

Same. Boys with toys. And that is what all the battle rattle really is, toys. And when someone is looking for an adventure, they will find it. Even if they have to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Did you catch the one about the SC ABC officers in plain clothes attacking two college girls who had only bought water? The cops acted like they were taking down the biggest drug king pin of the area, rather than two girls suspected of buying alcohol under age. And the cops were wrong.
“Underage drinking! I’m detective in the morning! Yehaw!” Completely crazy behavior, including drawing a gun on the girls. They wanted an adventure, so they created one.

The girls thought it was a rape attack.

“Returning police to the haircut and uniform standards of the 1970s with peaked caps should help dispel their self-image as “GI Joe”. “

What do we tell the youth about dress? Dress for the role in life you want. Dress for success. How a cop presents himself, haircut, uniform, ect, says a lot about who he chooses to be. And most cultivate the look most associate with a bouncer.

Average cop came looking to me for a job, I’d turn them down flat on appearance alone. You won’t work for me, if you dress to intimidate little kids out of their lunch money. For me, you must look professional and welcoming.

Get the Andy Taylor look back. A cop should look equally at home as an officer or in an office environment. Not look like he is on the wrong side of a prison cell.

“No credit for the Indiana cop who stopped and gave the homeless man a pair of his boots? No credit for the cop who comes by to visit the fatherless black kid to mentor and got his a bed, and desk so he would not have to sleep and do his homework on the floor? No credit for the Charleston County SC deputy killed two days ago answering a domestic disturbance call at 4am? Get a damned life.”

Do I get credit for my good actions if I am charged with doing a wrong? NO! Nor should I. Nor should cops. The things you mention are hardly limited to cops. That is every day kindness that people show.

Nor does good actions mean bad ones should be over looked. And those same cops almost certainly know cops breaking the law, and then do nothing about it.

“County SC deputy killed two days ago answering a domestic disturbance call at 4am?”
Shall we discuss the cops who harm innocent people and get away with it. You’re SC cop can rot for all I care, until cops start caring about the harm they cause innocents.

What's your solution?

Automation. Robots are cheap and expendable therefore do not need to kill when threatened, nor would that ever be legal. Catch ferals with a net and send them off to a walled city for the rest of their life. It accomplishes absolutely nothing to catch criminals using military assault tactics then release their catch a few hours later.
