World at War ... VDH
Hoover Institute ^ | 9 Sep 2014 | Victor Davis Hanson

Will the United States in its near future be hit again in the manner of the 9/11 attacks of thirteen years ago? The destruction of the World Trade Center, the suicide implosions of four passenger airliners, and the attack on the Pentagon unfortunately have become far-off memories. They are now more distant from us than was the Vietnam War was from the Korean War.

Two questions will determine whether radical Islamic terrorists will attack us once more: one, are the post-9/11 anti-terrorism protocols that have so far stopped major terrorist attacks still viable and effective, and, two, is Al-Qaeda or an analogous Islamic terrorist organization now still as capable as were Osama bin Laden’s henchmen in 2001?

Unfortunately, the answers to those two questions should raise great concern. Take the current status of the so-called war on terror in all of its manifestations. The southern border of the United States is less guarded than at anytime since 9/11. For all practical purposes, enforceable immigration laws simply no longer exist. The result is that we have no idea who is crossing into the United States or for what purposes.

Some of the Bush-Cheney anti-terrorism protocols are still in operation—renditions, preventative detention, the Guantanamo detention center, and the Patriot Act. However, the NSA, IRS, and VA scandals, along with the Edward Snowden and Wikileaks revelations, have created an understandably strong public backlash against government surveillance, which will lead to new protocols limiting our ability to monitor terrorist suspects.

Should another muzzie attack occur, a DemonRAT will never be elected for any office in this century. For all of his faults, wouldn't America be far better off with Dick Cheney as the Commander in Chief right now?

That is one of the greatest pictures of all times.

It certainly is. Vice President Dick Cheney knew that hussein obama was then and is now an America-hating mooselimb.

Don't be so sure about that. I remember that about 9/12 all the of PC returned with the media worried about anti-Muslim backlash.

Half this country is probably ready to be dhimmi

Redlines issued to Syria quickly became pink.

I'm stealing that.

The real problem is not ISIS, it's the funding and support that ISIS, al Qaeda, etc, etc, get from hugely wealthy "legitimate" Islamic sources with whom we're nominally not at war but who are very definitely at war with us. A candid public appraisal of who our enemies really are is long overdue, and diplomatic niceties that have precluded it have brought us nothing in return but smirking smiles and further funding for terrorism.

It's been far too long since Reagan: "My idea of American policy toward the Soviet Union is simple, and some would say simplistic," he said. "It is this: We win and they lose. What do you think of that?" Substitute "Militant Islam" for "Soviet Union" and you get the idea. If that turns into substituting "Islam" for "Soviet Union" then so be it. Because we can kill any number of trigger-pullers (and we have - it has taken militant Islam nearly a decade to recover from the blood-bath in Iraq) and the problem won't be solved. We have enemies, and they consider themselves untouchable because that's the way U.S. foreign policy has treated them. That policy needs to change.

Perhaps. Wish he’d scrap the hat...makes him look like a mafia figure.

Dick Cheney has faults? I thought it was only his heart condition that kept him from running. Personally, I preferred Donald Rumsfeld.

Giving Bambi a dirty look is nothing but political BS.

Had Dick Chaney, GWB and other GOPe politicians spoken the truth before the elections, things may have turned otherwise.

And GWB standing there as if he was sad about the type of president the country was about to get.

Hey you guys, you could’ve prevented it. Nobody’s but your fault.

I dunno. GWB had about zero political capital in 2008. The 30 something percent still listening to him didn’t end up giving votes to Obama.

Substitute "Militant Islam" for "Soviet Union"

How about just substituting Islam for "Militant Islam."

The Kohemeni of Iran stated recently there is no Radical Islam, there is only Islam.

A Muslim can never become a true American Citizen because the Koran is superior to all our laws and founding principals. The Constitution that we are sworn to defend against all enemies is simply not acceptable to them.

Should another muzzie attack occur, a DemonRAT will never be elected for any office in this century.

Another devout-Muslim terror attack would boost the GOP for a couple years, tops.

Beyond that, demographics will trump bloodshed, with a shrinking white electorate giving us solid Democrat rule for decades.

I opposed FDR's rounding up of Japanese in the 1940s...

...but the mooselimbs are another matter entirely. Every single mosque is an enemy fortress in our borders.

I am talking about opening files on Obama.

Even today, we do not know Obama’s true background — everything about his history is nebulous and secretive.

The first thing that will happen is the deployment of troops to protect Mosques from Americans, the President will appeal for calm and tell us this is not about Islam. Has nothing to do with Islam, Muslims are peaceful people.

Muslims globally will be celebrating of course.

The media will set aside a lot of coverage time to talk about anti-Muslims attacks and rumors of them. They will spend time talking about white domestic terrorists too.

But there were some Japanese who were more loyal to Japan than America back then, especially in Hawaii where they were apparently sending back info about what ships were in the harbor.
