A former U.S. ambassador is being investigated for laundering, according to papers found in a garbage container in Vienna.

Zalmay Khalilzad, a former U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan and Iraq, is being investigated for money laundering, and several of his wife's bank accounts have been frozen in connection with the probe.

The Justice Department investigation only became public on Sunday, when a blogger found relevant documents in a garbage container used by a state prosecutor's office in Vienna and posted them online. A day later, Austrian magazine Profil reported on the case.

Everyone of my discarded docs with sensitive information are shredded. No need to make the job any easier for them...

Bush appointed the guy, so I would think that would override other considerations for Obama.

More breath taking stupidity. Even common criminals are smarter.

I was about to say that I shred everything, not just sensitive papers. I realize now, I don’t exactly shred everything. LOL

Reminds me of when I was in the Air Force. I was on a document destruction detail, and one of the devices we had was a shredder powered by a scavenged Caterpillar diesel engine. That sucker would take documents by the arms-full, and keep on chugging. It would demolish staples, paper clips, staplers, hands, and arms. It was neat to see the end result - goo. During the demos, we'd throw in a few reams of pink or blue paper, just so you could actually see the end-result - pink/blue goo.

It was fun to watch. The other fun one was burn barrels and WP grenades.
