I was working at Wal Mart and the security guard had a hard time keeping a dude like that down. I came up and twisted is arm threatening to break it and he stopped right there.

Once he pulled the knife on them, deadly force should have been quickly, even if brutally, administered to end the lethal threat - all niceness ends. When he tried to bite them (a reasonable assumption is that he may be infected with AIDS) his ability to use his teeth, mouth, jaw or any part of his face should have been eliminated.
Obviously not trained practitioners of the martial arts. I wonder if they’ll be keeping their jobs after the perp files suit for them using excessive force(?)?

I worked in a maximum security juvenile detention facility for years...I'd have had him on the ground in mere moments, and would have been very kind and considerate while doing so.....officially at least!

I worked briefly as a security contractor at the local WM. We nailed a Teen rushing out the door at ê AM with a buggy full of electronics and had him immobilized against the wall. The manager came out and made us release the guy, just let him walk away. He had $2000+ in his cart. Then he instructed us to not lay hands on anyone at all or even tell them to stop. Just telling them to stop constitutes unlawful imprisonment in this state if you are not actually police and he doesn’t get charged. Most shoplifters are just turned loose without charges, even if a cop catches one and takes him to jail. I got my boss to put me back at the shipyard.
