Christie tests overseas diplomacy with Mexico trip

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie stepped out on the international stage Wednesday to talk trade with Mexico, but he stayed mum on one of the most pressing questions confronting the two countries and his party: immigration reform.

On a trip designed to help school him in foreign policy and court Hispanic voters should he seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, Christie stuck to economic issues and spoke of a “North American energy renaïssance” in which the U.S., Mexico and Canada ramp up investments and do away with “foolish” regulations. […]

But there was no acknowledgement of the need for a sweeping overhaul of U.S. immigration laws, the thorny issue that has vexed Congress and riled American politicians for years. About 70 percent of Latino voters chose President Barack Obama in 2012, and deep divisions remain among Republicans and Democrats over what to do about the 11 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally, as well as a tide of children flowing across the border with Mexico. …

I guess that the AssPress assparatchiks don’t want Mexicans to get jobs in their own country.

I didn’t bother to click on the link to the full article. But from the headline it would appear that AP considers Mexico to be overseas.

Christie is out of touch with moderate Republicans in the northeast like Scott Brown on immigration. Christie is an open borders extremist.

The NY GOP Senate (and 2 Dems) stopped the NY Dream Aid Act.

The NH GOP controlled Senate blocked the NH tuition act.

Governor LePage is cutting off welfare to illegals.

The Democrat Massachusetts legislature blocked driving privileges for illegals.

Which “sea” did he go “over” to get to Mexico? Were all the editors fired around 1996?

Is everyone working at the AP totally ignorant? What ocean did Christi have to cross to get to Mexico?

I’m assuming that his trip to this event is only because he’s the head of the Republican Governors group. Unless something major occurs, he has no chance for 2016.

The AP note-takers aren’t keeping pace with their bosses in the Administration, who consider “Mexico” and “USA” as different names for the same country.

Give it up, Governor.

Your dreams of one day commanding the world’s most powerful military went up in smoke long ago. And it had nothing to do with so-called bridgegate either.

It may not be “overseas”, but it is definitely a very foreign country. Been there 6 months combined on 4 trips. Definitely foreign, and if you think we have problems, oy veh!!

I think this type of pandering is what politicians view as job placement oppertunity when they are no longer holding political office.

They still haven’t fixed the article title as yet. I guess the great Gulf Sea of Mexico, or Mar Grande, extends across the Gadsden Purchase to Baja California.
