Given who he is and what he’s done, I wonder if Biden understands the irony of his statement.

“gates of hell” is a well-worn cliche. Besides which, McCain using the phrase for the group he’s taken photo-ops with in Syria was not real convincing.

I would rather that Obama chase ISIS/ISIl to the gates of Syria, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan

Both were quoting Jesus Christ without knowing it. Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and THE GATES OF HELL shall not prevail against it.

Didn’t Rodin station “The Thinker” at “The Gates of Hell”?

Classic Bidenism!
He is known for his plagarisms dating back to the 1988 Presidential campaign.

Not exactly an original phrase, no matter who used it.
Jesus used the term in referring to Pan worship at Caesarea Philippi and in assuring his disciples that his church would prevail against such evil.
Matthew 16 http://www.followtherabbi.com/journey/israel/gates-of-hell/
We would do well to remember His words today.
