Benghazi coming back with a vengeance in September
MSNBC ^ | 1 Sep 2014 | Alex Seitz-Wald

Posted on 09/01/2014 5:35:44 PM PDT by mandaladon

After several mercifully Benghazi-free months, the 2012 attack on the diplomatic compound in Libya is about to be thrust back into the spotlight around its September 11 anniversary.

The special House committee investigating Benghazi is finally expected to begin its work, in earnest, with its first hearing the week Congress returns from August recess. Meanwhile, two books promising explosive new allegations about the terror attack will hit shelves in September, and Fox News plans to air a new, one-hour documentary on the attack this week, featuring exclusive interviews with Americans who fought in the onslaught.

Add that to the usual fare that accompanies the anniversary of any major news event and you get a headache for the teams surrounding Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. For both, it’s a stubborn political problem that will likely never go away, no matter how many investigations clear the senior players of the worst allegations of wrongdoing. And it’s little doubt why: Polls suggest that Clinton is vulnerable on Benghazi ahead of a potential 2016 presidential run, with members of both parties listing it as her biggest weakness.

Partisans on both sides are gearing up for the return of Benghazi. Tim MIller, for example, who is the executive director of the GOP super PAC America Rising, told msnbc his team is prepared to jump on “anything that comes up in these books/hearings that call into question Sec. Clinton’s claims.” And Clinton defenders at Democratic groups like Correct the Record and American Bridge say they will be ready to respond to any incoming fire, and are already passing along research to undermine the books.

Trey Gowdy would not have accepted the Chairmanship of this committee unless the Republicans have some earth shattering testimony about to be revealed. The 6th Fleet had to be monitoring the situation in Benghazi. If the Commander did not have an intervention team of ship borne Marines and Seals loaded and ready to intervene, it would have been incredible negligence. He had to be ordered directly to stand down and there are no doubt some very frustrated senior officers who are willing to tell the truth.

Politics or not these ISIS types were the Benghazi assault force. It never ceases to amaze me how rotten Obama is and our White House has many Muslim Bros as visitors with Obama and Jarrett.

I’ve been saying for a decade that Israel should seize land in reprisal every time an Israeli is killed by a terrorist or rocket attack. Permanently.

You are right. Israel won this land in the war, though they have allowed the resident arabs to administer it. They have every right to assume active control of it at their option. Its theirs.

Carpet bombing did not work in Cambodia because of terrain. I can think of no place better suited for carpet bombing then the desert. Wipe ISIS out ASAP.

That's the one I was talking about. Tripoli. Just a bunch of terrorists chillin’ by our [now] algae filled pool after a hard day seizing-—whoopsy!, make that “guarding” our evacuated embassy.

After Arab Spring comes Arab summer. What else are they supposed to do?

On a more serious note, The dems are worried about Trey Gowdy. They cannot discredit him. Doesn't mean they won't try.

I have seen nothing to indicate Gowdy will do anything other than follow the facts. My fear is Congressional Leadership (aka Boehner) will try to close it down if Obama gets nervous and puts pressure on Boehner. God knows Boehner folds like a cheap suit.

Stopped reading right there.

The first sentence shows what side they're on, but of course this is MSNBC.

Kenneth Timmerman's book Dark Forces has lots of good information that is not generally known about what led up to Benghazi, and about the nefarious doings of Hillary and Obama...but it is not getting much attention.

After I re-read the article I realized what you were talking about. Bizarre.

I agree about Trey Gowdy. The more I see of him the more I want to see of him.

You beat me to it. The “investigations” have gone on nearly as long as the time between the Watergate break-in and Nixon’s resignation, and so far have produced little but the usual Kabuki theater.

For both [Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama], it’s a stubborn political problem that will likely never go away, no matter how many investigations clear the senior players of the worst allegations of wrongdoing.

Who cleared these two of anything, much less the "worst allegations"? Stonewalling is not clearing, and MSNBC lying about it is not legally binding.

Did you see that guy jumping off the roof into the pool?

(Really it looked like a few frat parties I went to in college).

I wonder if that’s intentional. “Just a bunch of crazy kids laffin it up at the Embassy. Nothing to see here folks. You see it all the time in Fort Lauderdale.”

A bunch of crazy kids that’ll chop your head off.

I caught this author this weekend on CSPAN 2 BookTV. Recommend his book or catch his talk if you can.

In addition to a good explanation of how and why the attack took place, he describes Shillarys role in initiating the cover-up. Great run down of all the things Iran has done to fight us since the last 70s.

“Dark Forces: The Truth About What Happened in Benghazi”
Kenneth Timmerman
About the Program
Kenneth Timmerman argues that the Benghazi attack was an Iranian state-sponsored terrorist action pulled off by professional fighters. He says that the scandal over what really happened in Benghazi will end up being worse for President Obama than the Iran-Contra scandal was for President Reagan. Mr. Timmerman spoke at an event hosted by the David Horowitz Freedom Center in Los Angeles.

About the Authors
Kenneth Timmerman
Kenneth Timmerman is the author of many books, including “Shadow Warriors” and “Preachers of Hate.”
