UKRAINE: A Radical Way for Ukraine to Fight and Defeat Russia
The Fiscal Times ^ | August 29, 2014 9:30 AM | Andrew L. Peek

Russian tanks advancing through southeastern Ukraine should be deeply embarrassing to Americans.

NOT because Ukraine is of such vital national interest; NOT because the fate of liberty at home hinges on Luhansk or Donetsk; BUT because it is VERY CLEAR that Putin and virtually every other major world leader simply does NOT REALLY CARE what the President of the United States thinks.

In his press conference, President OBAMA REFUSED TO CALL THE RUSSIAN INVASION an invasion. “Invasion” presumably implies action; instead, it was a “CONTINUATION of what’s been taking place for MONTHS now,” which is actually MORE embarrassing than delineating this as a singular one-off. But Obama was upbeat: “I think that the sanctions we’ve already applied have been effective.” DESPITE, well, the EVIDENCE.

To be fair, the fact that economic sanctions have not altered Russian behavior is not really Obama’s fault. They were NEVER going to be enough. Effective sanctions would require whole-hearted European support, and since Europe’s economy is heavily dependent on Russian energy, major players like Germany will not impose the kind of sanctions regime that ultimately brought Iran to the bargaining table, relatively speaking.

Because of Europe’s dependency, an effective Russia policy simply has to supplement the limited costs of economic sanctions with some other kind of costs. Usually, this is where MILITARY AID would come in. But the Obama Administration has STEADFASTLY REFUSED to send UKRAINE WEAPONS, arguing that arming the Ukrainians might lead to Russian ESCALATION and in any case will not change Russia’s overwhelming military superiority.

It’s a little NONSENSICAL, because Russia’s perfectly willing to ESCALATE ANYWAY; and if helping our friends resist stronger foes doesn’t change anything fundamental, then…why do we help anybody? Why do we even have friends? Why not just accept Russian and Chinese domination over Eurasia and go home?

Like a backfire used to fight a forest fire, the Ukrainians must adopt practice maximize the cost of waging war on Ukraine. Make the Russians guard everything they brink into Ukraine or destroy it. Kill any Russian wherever you catch him alone or in small numbers. Burn their food, fuel, ammunition. They’re more vulnerable than they realize. Roadside bombs and mines planted to take them out in small numbers will raise the price high enough that Putin will have to accept that his dreams of destroying freedom and building an empire dedicated to his personal benefit is not going to be possible. Don’t give up.

Obama, Putin and small number of mindless tools here all on the same page.

I understand. You are correct

Yet, Ukrainians are almost non-violent peace loving Christians trying to deal with: is it right to kill another man.

But, I believe that after the torture, abductions, rapes by terrorist Separatists militants.. not counting the promised green corridor to remove wounded troops today and then were fired on instead... perhaps, now the realization is understood that to completely commit to war will be the only possible way to survive as individuals and as a nation.

I only regret that the U.S.A. has ignored these honorable people, especially after affirming a commitment to them in the BudapestMemorandum on Security Assurances

The only hope they have here would be if they salted away some of those nukes they had in their hands before stupidly believing the Ruskies and the US in the first place. Allegedly there were about 1900 strategic and 2000 tactical nukes located within Ukraine under their physical control but operationally under Ruskie operational control. Maybe 100 or so fell off the truck so to speak??

If they can by pass the PAL, I think there would be a second thought in Kremlinville.

I end the war tomorrow without firing a shot. I also end ISIS in the middle east by dinnertime one week from today. This is how I do it.

There is a reason why the Keystone Pipeline cannot be built. The pipeline would compete with the railroads to carry the oil. Warren Buffett owns those railroads. And Warren Buffett is Obama’s BFF.

Sell natural gas to Europe. Put the missile shields in Eastern Europe. Arm Ukraine.

Maybe the Ukes can take a Russian grade school hostage or a theater until it breaks the Putin/Russian will....oh wait....that sabotage backfire in the extreme did not work for the Chechens but your attempt to play amature guerilla general was humorously appreciated. I am sure you would fight to the death with the last Ukrainian.

If the Ukes still had nukes they probably would have sold a few to al-qaeda for vodka money.

Merkel and Obama refuse to give Ukraine the tools to fight and stand a chance.

Arm Ukraine.

Yes, lets ensure that millions of Ukrainians die instead of thousands.

Ukraine was thoroughly looted by Russians over the past decade, while they were robbing the place blind the military force in Ukraine was depleted to not even a hollow force.

They had barely thrown off the yoke of Russia this year when the invasion started. No time to rebuild

So did your advice to the Ukes come from Iraqi or Afghani sources?

I told you a while ago that victorious Ukrainian army will reach Pacific soon according to your "news".

Now when the lies you spread got evident, you start new spin. It is getting boring.

"Russian tanks" are Ukrainian tanks captured in various encirclements and manned by Novorussian crews.

They got captured because war is led by incompetent Ukrainian generals and their obviously incompetent U.S. advisers.

Encirclement is known tactics studied in all military academies around the world.

If U.S. should be ashamed of something, it is staging of a coup and bringing Nazis to power in Kiev.

Asymmetrical warfare isn't a secret known only by the Iraqis or the Afghans. Ukrainians will find their own best ways to frustrate Putin's conquest. You may find his cruelty amusing and that you're a cute fellow for wanting him to crush a peaceful and independent neighbor. Russia tried cruelty and mass genocide against the Afghans and wasn't successful. They've terrorized almost all of their neighbors in the last 200 years. Katyn Massacre ring a bell? The invasion of Poland in 1939? The Holodomor in Ukraine ring a bell? The many different ethnic cleansings ring a bell? Does the Gulag ring a bell?

The Russians won't succeed in Ukraine unless everyone else acts and thinks like you, and they don't.

You know, if you look at it from Putin’s point of view. He’s simply adopting WEST way of breaking up Yugoslavia. First instigate a rebellion within a country, then provide political/indirect military support, then direct military support, then demand a vote on the break up
