The Sandy Man ... Mark Steyn
Steyn Online ^ | 29 Aug 2014 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 08/29/2014 8:58:49 AM PDT by Rummyfan

My weekly appearance on The Hugh Hewitt Show chanced this week to follow a rare appearance by Barack Obama at the White House. He happened to have a couple of hours between the golf game and the fundraiser, and so thought he might as well climb into the lightweight suit and make a statement about Putin, Iraq and all the other peripheral stuff President Tee-Time doesn't usually have time for. This was his position on ISIS:

We don't have a strategy yet.

As Vlad and the mullahs and the ChiComs must be thinking: Wow! When he promised he'd be the most transparent administration in history, he wasn't kidding.

HUGH HEWITT: There you have it, Mark Steyn. We don't have a strategy, yet.

MARK STEYN: Yes, and that's true. Actually, I believe Churchill after the fall of France, went out and gave a press conference outside 10 Downing Street, where he announced that we don't have a strategy... I don't know whether that actually is the strategy, not to have a strategy, but just looking at the color of his suit, I think you would have concluded that this was a man without a strategy.

Precisely. That was a nice soothing colored suit totally in tune with message. A bold dark colored suit would have been way too stern.

BHO just adores Churchill so much

Wonder if he adores this Churchill quote:

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!
Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia
in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many
countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods
of commerce and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the
Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and
refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan
law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as
a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the
faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion
paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde
force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant
and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising
fearless warriors at every step, and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the
strong arms of science, the science against which it (Islam) has vainly struggled,
the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”
WARNING: Quoting the above in Great Britain could land you in jail.

ISIS is not our enemy.! Our enemies are Republicans, Tea Party Members, Fox News, and white males who believe in God and own guns.

Did I imagine it? After Obama said he didn’t have a strategy, he said (paraphrasing) he’s going to ‘consult with congress and the American people’ (to formulate his strategy)? Is it anything like Hillary’s “Listening Tour”?

A shining example of Leading From Behind.

He will continue to (1) delay delay delay (world events bypass him and anything America eventually does is meaningless); (2) not be responsible for anything (inaction or any action);

Steyn: ....if you were the Estonian government, would you actually be reassured by that? And if you were Putin, if you were Putin sitting in the Kremlin, and you just wanted to mess with Obama, wouldn't you be slightly ever-so-tempted just to invade Estonia, just to see whether Obama follows through on that Article Five thing?

I don’t have a problem with the suit, except for its inapropiateness.

that is a spring color

It is definitely not the color to wear, when conveying you mean business.

Reminds me of the suit Nixon wore in his televised debate with Kennedy, that made him look like a lightweight.

“One Taupe over the line”

Many years ago I joined a Sheriff’s Department that wore Taupe Uniform Trousers. For the benefit of anyone not familiar with the color, the Uniform Specification contained this clarifying definition: “Taupe = Pink-Tan”.

Obozo should be right at home in Taupe!

If I recall correctly, while the British government had no strategy to defeat Hitler, Churchill declared that the British people were at least determined to fight. On the beaches, in the fields, in the streets, from house to house.

The waste of chemical elements who currently occupies the White House has neither a plan nor any desire to create one. I would wager that any American who adopts the attitude of the Britons in 1940 would probably be accused of racism and harried by the (in)Justice Department for terrorist activities.
