Report: Dogs Eating Dead Bodies Of Ebola Victims On Liberian Streets

ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta/AP) — Dogs in one community in Liberia are reportedly eating the remains of dead Ebola victims lying on the streets.

The New Dawn reports that the Liberian government buried bodies of those suspected to have died from Ebola a few weeks ago in Johnsonville Township, outside of Monrovia. A number of dogs were reportedly seen pulling the bodies out of the graves and eating the remains.

Alfred Wiah tells The New Dawn that the government’s Health Ministry was called about the incident but that officials did not do anything about it.

“We are very disappointed in the Health Ministry, especially the government that took an oath to defend and protect us. To see them act in such manner is unacceptable and we’ll never allow the government come to bury any longer,” Wiah told The New Dawn. “They will be resisted by us because I think the government has failed to protect us. Why bring Ebola bodies and not bury them well?”

Dr. Stephen Korsman of the University of Cape Town’s medical virology division tells News 24 that dogs can be infected with the Ebola virus but that “infections appear to be asymptomatic.”

“This means that dogs won’t get sick, but they still could carry a potential risk through licking or biting,” Korsman explained to News 24.

This is horrible ... two things that will not help stop Ebola:

"we’ll never allow the government come to bury any longer ... they will be resisted ....."

This is Old Testament scary. Just imagine what is going on out in the bush! Not areas not heard from nor contacted recently. Hesitant to even imagine what sort of hell is happening “out there.”

good grief!

If the west wasn’t working 24/7 to keep them alive, I think Africans would have managed to make themselves extinct by now.

If dogs are known to eat dead bodies of ebola victims, other animals such as birds and rats will do the same.

Notice that they don’t complain about dogs eating the bodies of non-Ebola victims.

Why don’t dogs get sick from the virus? Seems that would be useful information for treatment or vaccine ideas.

Lots of diseases don’t infect other species. Pretty common.

“We don’t actually know where the virus has been since then,” said Sabeti, referring to the time between 2004 and when the virus resurfaced earlier this year. “We’re trying to piece together an historical record.”

Thursday’s study also details hundreds of genetic mutations that make the current Ebola outbreak different from any in the past. Some of those changes have the potential to affect the accuracy of diagnostic tests or the effectiveness of vaccines and treatments under development for the disease.

“We’ve uncovered more than 300 genetic clues about what sets this outbreak apart from previous outbreaks,” Stephen Gire, one of the study’s co-authors and an infectious disease researcher at Harvard, said in an announcement about the findings.

The other bodies may not be as tasty.

In India, feral dogs eat dead human bodies that are about quite often. No one seems to be laying an egg about that situation.

Interesting thought. The BAD news is that it appears dogs can carry the virus and they don’t show symptoms, but can possibly pass it on via saliva/bite. Scenario: your little street urchin is sitting on the curb and a dog bites him or licks him on the face or hand .... new Ebola case (?).

Question - can dogs pass the virus to each other via bite/saliva .... I’m guessing ‘yes’ & you know these feral dogs are fighting over food all the time. So now you potentially have a whole population of Ebola carriers. As someone else mentioned - you know other animals are eating the dead bodies the dogs dig up - can they be carriers?

Great. Dog eats man, mosquito bites dog, mosquito bites man, man bites dust. Women inherit the earth.

Looks like the birds get their chance in the New Testament; however with the enemy.

19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

An angel speaking in a loud voice invites all of the birds to feed on the results of the carnage which will shortly take place. . A similar passage is found in Luke 17 v.37 stating: wherever the corpse is, there the eagles (vultures) will gather.

This “supper” that this speaks of, is right after the battle of Armageddon. Battle of Armageddon

19:18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all [men, both] free and bond, both small and great.

For those lying out there dead in the valley of Megiddo, it will not matter whether you were a general or a private. The birds will not know the difference. With God, there has never been a distinction. He is not impressed with your position in life. The birds will eat them all.

This reveals the extent of the massive slaughter. To have one’s unburied body left as food for birds would be the ultimate indignity, especially for the mighty military commanders and the proud kings. The same fate awaits the God hating rebels everywhere in the world
