(Reuters) - A group of people caught up in unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, after a white officer killed a black teenager, sued local officials on Thursday, alleging civil rights violations through arrests and police assaults with rubber bullets and tear gas.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, says law enforcement met a broad public outcry over the Aug. 9 killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown with "militaristic displays of force and weaponry," (and) engaged U.S. citizens "as if they were war combatants."
The lawsuit seeks a total of $40 million on behalf of six plaintiffs, including a 17-year-old boy who was with his mother in a fast-food restaurant when they were arrested. Each of the plaintiffs was caught up in interactions with police over a period from Aug. 11 to 13, the suit allege.

An acquaintance of mine ran a stop sign in rural Mo. She was killed in the collision that ensued. Her son and step daughter sued Mo. saying the stop sign was partially obscured, they sued for $4,000,000, the state offered $500,000 and they accepted.
The kicker is, that they had found a half empty (or half full) bottle of whiskey in the car after the accident, nothing was ever brought up about that, the state just paid to make it go away.
Mo. is likely to settle with the Ferguson money grubbers too.
One riot- one Ranger... and 174 lawyers.
Seriously it’s suits like these, and ‘liberal’ judges, that are CAUSING the ‘militarization’ of police.
Of the half mil, each got one third. Son one third, daughter one third and lawyer one third. They probably argued about who got the extra penny because half mil cannot be equally divide among three people.

Set up a group to sue the local LE. Sue them out of business and re-employ them with the Fed. Part of his “National Police Plan” with himself as Her Kommandant.

I do not understand why anyone could think that LE do no wrong. Or, that they are justified in doing what ever they want to do under certain circumstances. These LE being sued may be innocent, they may have stepped over the line-it is possible- some LE do. I guess no one here has ever had an encounter with an over the line LE. I have. Three times when I was in college. I was working as a janitor at a building. I was there at night and several LE came in and kicked me out. I showed them my key and told them I was the janitor. One said if I did not leave he would use his flashlight on me. I left, but went back later to do my work.
After this, most younger whites will move west to ST. Charles County. The older whites will hang on til they die off . North ST. Louis County is well on the way to become like North ST. Louis city, this will just speed it up.
