They don’t “depend” on their parents to fill the gas tank, but they much prefer it over spending their own money.

Ive known a number of radical feminists who regard all men as 15-year-old boys,
...you could say the same thing about TV ad executives...portrayals of men on television commercials is enough to drive me to commit mayhem...

There was much less fornication (and adultery, and illegitimacy) when it carried serious consequences, whether the consequences were "fair" or not.
I dunno. I've been reading some history of the 1600s and 1700s, previous to the Victorian Age. Seems fornication, adultery, and bastardy were just as bad as it is now, outside of extremely religious communities like the Puritans. Of course, back then it was expected that men would wench and carouse, so...*shrug* It's only after the imposition of Victorian values that all that went underground, though it was still prevalent amongst the lower classes.
Perhaps we should re-promote Victorianism as the way to go. Food for thought.

I don’t think there’s been a situation of over 40% illegitimacy in any society with the concept of “marriage,” which is every society we know about.

TV ad executives... do a really good job of convincing me NOT to buy their products.

The easy sex is a trap for males. Most males are not seeing "easy" sex. What is happening is that a lot of women are chasing the same small percentage of the most desirable men.
In competing with each other for the attention of desirable men, women increasingly have to offer easy sex. Why would a desirable man spend time with Sally, if Judy will have sex with him just for coming over to her apartment? With multiple women competing for each desirable man, the man has little incentive to commit with any of them.

That's actually a really good question, so I went to look it up, see if there was ever any research done on that. It appears there was
a research article written on the subject in 1972 that compared rates. It says in the summary that "illegitimacy rates in European populations after 1750 finds a period of rising rates to around 1870 followed by one of declining rates to about 1940. The early rise in illegitamcy appears to have been related to increasing sexual activity, while the decline is ascribed to increasing use of birth control." The rest of it is behind a paywall, though, but the citations are available. Might be an interesting subject.

Yes, that is interesting. 1740 to 1870 gives us several major wars, including the whole career of Napoleon. War always precipitates family disruption, including illegitimate births (consensual or otherwise). This is also the period of mass industrialization, another source of family disruption.
