Air France said it was suspending its flights to Sierra Leone from Thursday because of an Ebola outbreak that has killed at least 1,400 people in West Africa.

The French flag carrier announced the "temporary suspension" of its flight to Freetown that it runs three times a week but insisted it would continue to serve Guinea and Nigeria, other Ebola-hit countries.

Wednesday's announcement followed advice from the French government to stop flights to Sierra Leone's capital Freetown given "the way the epidemic has evolved and the condition of the health systems".

Hopefully all the UN people were able to get in before the flights stopped.

CDC Director On Ebola: ‘We Are Definitely Not At The Peak’

“...As bad as the Ebola situation is, Frieden warned that the worst is yet to come. “Unfortunately, we are definitely not at the peak. It’s going to get worse before it gets better,” he said. “The real question is how much worse will it get? How many more people will be infected and how much more risk to the world will there be?”...

There shouldn’t be a problem flying over Ebola. On the other hand, flying into Ebola could be a problem.

The airlines can keep flying, but they will have a hard time finding cabin crews.
The UN keeps saying the flight risk is low,but if you have a passenger throwing up and pooping themselves..it doesn’t sound low risk to me.

After your post earlier today it’s about time Air France is doing this. After all, 2 + 2 = 4.

WS: How far is Ebola form the capital ?

What’s your question? You already form the capital E in Ebola. Now cursive is a different case.

“Air France said it was suspending its flights to Sierra Leone from Thursday”

Darn, here it is Wednesday, how am gonna get a flight out of Thursday?

Does no one at AFP speak English? Parlez Anglais?

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...
