A Chicago-born man suspected of fighting alongside Islamic State militants who have seized large areas of Iraq and Syria to the alarm of the Baghdad government and its allies in the West has been killed in Syria, a U.S. official said on Tuesday.
"We were aware of U.S. Citizen Douglas McAuthur McCain's presence in Syria and can confirm his death," U.S. National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said in a statement.

"We continue to use every tool we possess to disrupt and dissuade individuals from traveling abroad for violent jihad and to track and engage those who return," Hayden said.
According to a relative, McCain was born in Chicago and grew up in the Robert Taylor Homes on the South Side before the Chicago Housing Authority building was torn down. He moved with his mother to Minnesota and attended high school there. He later moved to the San Diego area, where he attended community college.

The U.S. should refuse to allow his remains to come into the country.
He shall not return.
Better yet, ban ALL travel into USA from M.E., North Africa, and Pakistan. You can go, but don't expect to get back in.
I'd add to that if any US citizens who fight with ISIS attempt to return to the US, they should be sent to a permanent tropical vacation...at the Guantanamo resort.

Report: Hundreds of Americans May Be Fighting for ISIS

The government is tracking at least 300 Americans who may be fighting with the Islamic State’s terrorists in Iraq and Syria as concerns mount that the terror organization could become a threat to homeland security, senior U.S. officials say.
The officials, speaking anonymously because of the sensitivity of the situation, said Washington is concerned that radicalized fighters could return to the United States and put their newly acquired skills to use for domestic attacks, reports The Washington Times.
“We know that there are several hundred American passport holders running around with ISIS in Syria or Iraq,” one official said of the group formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria — more than earlier reports of about 100. “It’s hard to tell whether or not they’re in Syria or moved to Iraq.”
One such American, Douglas McAuthur McCain, 33, originally of San Diego, was killed over the weekend in Syria, his uncle told CNN.
The body and passport of Douglas McAuthur McCain, 33, originally of San Diego, California, was discovered by members of the Free Syrian Army after he was killed in a firefight with the group.
