What's thought to be an audio recording of the shooting death of Michael Brown has reportedly surfaced. According to CNN, an unidentified man, who has since been interviewed by the FBI, is said to have managed to record the incident in which Michael Brown was shot by Officer Darren Wilson earlier this month, setting off a national firestorm.
The most notable tidbit from the short recording (and what will become subject to the most immediately scrutiny and parsing) is the existence of two distinct volleys of gunfire from Officer Darren Wilson's weapon. From CNN:

Forensic audio expert Paul Ginsberg analyzed the recording and said he detected at least 10 gunshots -- a cluster of six, followed by four.
The man who recorded the shooting was talking to someone on video chat when the sounds of gunfire erupted in the background. The Daily Mail added:
Lopa Blumenthal, the attorney for the unidentified man who recorded the alleged gunfire nearby said that she believed the audio shows, if it is authentic, that Officer Wilson had a clear 'point of contemplation' while pulling the trigger and aiming at Brown."
Also of some serious importance, should the tape's authenticity be confirmed, is the fact that ten (or, by some counts, eleven) shots were fired at Brown by Wilson.

Yeah, the ‘sexy time’ chat just cracked me up when I saw the CNN segment. I wonder if they realized that?
That stuff is so easy to manufacture and tamper with. I have a relative who could make it sound like a single shot or 30 shots if you gave him the original. I’ve seen him slide and dice audio broadcasts with specialized software where there’s no way you could tell the difference. He can cut any imperfections in the recording and can put layers into it then compile them on a mastered recording where it would fool the best listeners.
Wonder if it’s the same people who manufactured the birth certificate? I hope so...
Hearing the audio this morning, I thought I was hearing shots and echos of shots - not 10+ individual shots. I’m no expert, but the spacing seemed too consistent to think otherwise.
I do hope somebody can edit out the voice of the guy doing his video chat... that was creepy: “You’re so fine...”
Say what? I have no idea what this means. It could mean..."My fish blue, quantum purple under the stairwell".

Based just on this report, I can think of at least one alternative explanation for the additional 4 shots (if, indeed, they were actually fired.) Wilson fired six shots, hitting Brown in the arms four times. Brown backed off, then came charging at Wilson. At that point Wilson fired four more shots, hitting Brown twice (including the lethal shot at the top of the head).
Who’s to say the recording didn’t come from a birthday celebration in Chicago? Birthdays in Chicago usually end with a deaths and injuries.

If he's used to hearing gunshots in his neighborhood then this would be expected. Not unlike how soldiers in combat zones sometimes find themselves ignoring gunfire and artillery fire as nothing more than the usual background noise.
I mean no editorial comment here. I'm just responding to your comment after watching a WW1 program tyhis morning that mentioned how soldiers in the trenches sometimes were oblivious to exploding shells and etc. because they were just used to it.
Or perhaps this shows that the officer gave Brown a chance to back off but he kept coming so the officer resumed firing.
Did he assault the officer?
Yes.
Did he charge the officer?
Yes.
Is he dead as a result of those actions?
Yes.
Case closed.
