No, Jews in NYC always felt put upon by the Irish - in the old days, I mean. One only has to read Betty Smith to realize this. Speaking as an Orthodox Jew, I can assure you that the tilt toward conservatism is not limited to Chassidim. Torah observant Jews are disgusted with the downward cultural spiral driven by liberals. There are still some tendencies toward democrats among poorer communities that rely on government programs, but if not for that, they would definitely vote republican, the more conservative the better.

Well, my old boss was from the 1990s - not the 1930s, lol! He was mixed up on a few things, I thought. He followed the pharmaceutical trade on the buy side of our investment firm: he was convinced AIDs was going to break out into the heterosexual world any day now. I’d sit there - unbeknownst to him I had worked at Studio 54 and other dives and knew a little bit more than him about AIDs carriers - and quietly roll my eyes at his naivete.
He also loved environmentalism and still sends me a holiday card during Christmas - from the Sierra Club.
I can hold my own. Made in Georgia. There are not too many things made 100% here anymore.
