Iran Says it Downed Israeli Drone over Nuclear Site

Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard said it has brought down an Israeli stealth drone above the Natanz uranium enrichment site in the centre of the country.

"A spy drone of the Zionist regime (Israel) was brought down by a missile... This stealth drone was trying to approach the Natanz nuclear zone," the corps said in a statement on its official website sepahnews.com.

In 2010, the Israeli Air Force launched an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), dubbed "Eitan," "Heron TP" or "Heron 2", which can stay in the air 24 hours and can reach Iran.

“The ‘Eitan’ marks a technological breakthrough and a new level in the Air Force's ability to operate against threats, near and far, in its every day missions and during emergencies,” IDF spokesmen said.

Military officials declined to say whether the new UAV was designed for use against Iran and did not specifically mention the Islamic Republic, but foreign news services noted that the Eitan can fly as far as Iran.

Keep trying, Israel. You only have to be successful once, Iran has to be successful (in shooting down drones) 100% of the time.

A drone may still be a drone but when Israel DOES make a move, and it will make a move, the world will be shocked & awed. Hint: It ain’t going to be a 1981 replay...

And Israel’s response? Oh that’s too bad that you got one of them. ; )

When I was talking to Bebe last night he told me that the drone had taken all the pictures, transmitted them, and was exiting the area and that the revolutionary guards knew it. They are lying because heads have rolled over this before.

Hey Iranian dirtbags!

I wouldn't worry about no steenking drone.

You might want to return your trays to the upright position and fasten your seatbelts. In case of a water landing.....

Unfortunately, unlike ‘81, any build up will be well advertized and likely stopped by the many suicidal Israelis (liberals) who have a lot of political power ...

Very interesting how important drones have become lately.

“suicidal” Israelis’ numbers are dwindling. Though they have power, the Left in Israel is more marginalized than ever.

The Israelis perfected the use of drones in 1982 when they used them to take out 30+ Syrian/Soviet SAM batteries in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.
Since then, it's been more and more important on the battle field.

That may be true, however, when facing an existential crisis, Bibi and Ya’alon are still opting for peace through negotiations, while giving lip service to fighting Hamas by using air power. The extremely limited ground incursion was halted before it became truly effective.

Hamas has now had time to rearm with more Iranian weapons - via the Sinai tunnels which are still open; to drive people from their homes along the Gaza border - with mortars and short range rockets; to declare victory over Israel; to come up with a defense against the Windbreaker system - which Hamas had no counter.

Point is: the suicidal mentality still remains strong - potentially strong enough to create a war of attrition which Israel cannot win, and thus, commit suicide.

Meanwhile, we face a similarly left-driven suicidal regime here in the US which fails to recognize that war has found us (since 1979), and we will shortly be facing the same or worse threats as Israel - see ISIS claims to have found Saddam’s ‘lost’ WMD.

The gloves should have come off on July 8th, not August 25th.
The whole problem for Israel here is military casualties.

If Israel goes into downtown Gaza with whatever force she chooses, it will mean the loss of ~400 soldiers and the occupation guerrilla war with more losses. This is something that Israeli society, being as Western and forward thinking she is, is unwilling to accept. Israel does not want massive losses and that is the SOLE reason we say an air campaign. Who wants to lose hundreds only to give it all back again to the terrorists? This is Israel's history:

Defensive War
Victory
Withdrawal To date, Israel losing 67 soldiers is an American equivalent of about 2,400 soldiers within a 6 week period!
