A Terrorist Horror, Then Golf: Incongruity Fuels Obama Critics
New York Times ^ | August 21st, 2014 | Peter Baker and Julia Hirschfeld Davis

WASHINGTON — He had just hung up the telephone with the devastated parents before heading in front of the cameras. Unusually emotional, President Obama declared himself “heartbroken” by the brutal murder of an American journalist, James Foley, and vowed to “be relentless” against Islamic radicals threatening to kill another American.

But as soon as the cameras went off, Mr. Obama headed to his favorite golf course on Martha’s Vineyard, where he is on vacation, seemingly able to put the savagery out of his mind. He spent the rest of the afternoon on the links even as a firestorm of criticism erupted over what many saw as a callous indifference to the slaughter he had just condemned.

Presidents learn to wall off their feelings and compartmentalize their lives. They deal in death one moment and seek mental and physical relief the next. To make coldhearted decisions in the best interest of the country and manage the burdens of perhaps the most stressful job on the planet, current and former White House officials said, a president must guard against becoming consumed by the emotions of the situations they confront. And few presidents have been known more for cool, emotional detachment than Mr. Obama.

The New York Times is offering empathy and excuses for a President AS IF HE HAD ASKED for forgiveness. Obama didn’t... he doesn’t think his actions were tacky or insensitive. To make his point Obama went golfing the next day.

Makes me wonder if there isn’t something wrong here.. I mean wronger than what is normal. Suppose he has lost or contact with reality and this is the best way his handlers can keep it from slipping into the open.

Incongruity has been one of the very things that the Current Occupant has been able to successfully sell to the mainstream media up to now. And they LIKED his non-conformist attitude and deliberate in-your-face attitude to criticism fired at him by political opponents, shrugging it all off as “prejudice against me because of my color”.

The incongruity comes from being unable to fit any workable solution to the problem at hand, by thinking there was a “new” way to handle problems, ending up by neither assessing what the real problem was, nor refraining from some response that invariably made the original problem much WORSE.

There is something seriously wrong with the guy -- half of America knows it.

He showed the same compassion to the martyrs of Benghazi when he met their bodies, and the same lack of concern afterward.

There's a golf course not too far from Ferguson, hardly more than one mile away.

Norwood Hills Country Club, two eighteen-hole championship courses.

Maybe he should spend his vacation there and play every day, taking a break for pressers and such.

Martha's Vineyard most people can't afford to vacation there, maybe a day trip. He is far from the "maddening crowd".

He’s a sociopath, his behavior is normal for a sociopath.

Lack of empathy is the hallmark trait of narcissistic personalities:

Narcissistic Traits

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
Has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
Is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
Is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
Requires excessive admiration
Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

Unfortunately as the disorder deepens, it has severe ramifications for the people involved with that person. This guy is the president....

Anyone who voted for Obama in 2008 deserves ridicule.

Anyone who voted for Obama in 2012 deserves contempt.
