The most successful pipe band of all time has won a tenth world title at the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland.

The Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band has now defended its title in the top division for the fourth year in a row.

Based in Lisburn, County Antrim, the band was founded almost 70 years ago.

Another band from Northern Ireland, Bleary and District from County Down, also performed well, coming second in grade two of the competition. 'Premiership title'

Northern Ireland's drum majors also dominated this year's championships, claiming 15 of the 18 available prizes.

Drum major Zoe McDowell won the Junior World Championship title and Lauren Abraham took home the Juvenile World Championship title.

The Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band's latest success has been hailed as a landmark

David Scott of the Pipe Band Association of Northern Ireland praised the achievements of all the local competitors and said Northern Ireland's pipe bands were "leading the way".

He added that Field Marshal Montgomery's latest success was a landmark.

"This is the equivalent of Manchester United winning the Premiership title in football.

"Field Marshal Montgomery have won their fourth consecutive title and their tenth world championship title."

My husband is a firefighter, and nothing brings me to tears like “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes.

I always liked the pipes (in small doses). Unfortunately you only hear them now when a cop dies.

Not to sound irreverent, but I hear the pipes every time I taste a good Single Malt.

Music? on the pipes?

My scotch ancestors tended toward the fiddle. They made real music

When I was on Parris Island, I offered to play Amazing Grace on tenor saxophone at the Chapel, but the powers that be said no.

That was such a disappointment. I really thought I could help my fellow recruits.

Heh, I don't think I would have made water-boy for those hornlines.

The uniform was from a small senior corps I was in(very briefly)eons ago, the pic was my attempt to do Bonnie Ott's "Chase The Clouds Away" solo using my brothers mellophone(my attempt failed miserably of course).

My brother was the drum corps guy in the family, he marched with several Jr. Sr. corps in the 70's & 80's.
