What is an orbital blow out fracture to the eye socket?

It has been confirmed that Officer Wilson suffered an orbital blow out fracture to his eye socket. In case you’re wondering just what that means, here’s a brief overview. (Bolding is mine.)

Indirect orbital floor fracture ("blowout fracture"). This occurs when the bony rim of the eye remains intact, but the paper thin floor of the eye socket cracks or ruptures. This can cause a small hole in the floor of the eye socket that can trap parts of the eye muscles and surrounding structures. The injured eye may not move normally in its socket, which can cause double vision. Most blowout fractures are caused by an impact to the front of the eye from something bigger than the eye opening, such as a baseball, a fist or an automobile dashboard.

Approximately 2.5 million traumatic eye injuries, including eye socket fractures, occur each year in the United States. About 85% of these injuries happen by accident, during contact sports, at work, in car crashes or while doing home repair projects. About 15% are caused by violent assaults. The source of the injury is usually a blunt object -- baseball, hammer, rock, piece of lumber -- and the most frequent place of injury is the home. At one time, eye injuries were common in motor vehicle accidents, usually when a victim's face struck the dashboard. Such eye injuries have decreased dramatically because more cars have airbags, and most states have laws mandating the use of seat belts.

I hear these "protesters" when confronted with possibility that none of the original story is true then argue about the 35ft distance and six shots fired.

Myth Buster proved and officers are trained that a suspect at 20ft can rush you before you can holster your weapon. Wilson knows the danger of being BUM Rushed. Add to that his eye is blown creating all sort of potential vision issues including depth perception. Good luck prosecuting this.

I would also ask if the protesters would they fell better if one shot would have killed Michael?

Here's why the Gentle Giant keep coming and the officer keep shooting before GG could finish the job on the cop that he'd started. He was shot 4 times in his right arm, which didn't even slow down GG. Then he was shot in the eye, a fatal shot and immediately afterward shot in the top of the head, also a fatal shot and he went down facing forward. [speculation]

If GG was going backward with his arms up, he could not have been shot on top of the head and he would not have fallen on his front.

Why the morons allowed the meme of "hands up don't shoot" to get started and settled is beyond me. We're going to have college bands at football games forming the "hands up, don't shoot" sign during halftime, like they did with Trayvon Martin. And that was even after all the facts came out. For the Agitators, truth and facts don't matter, it's the agitation and incitement that's important.
