Police in St. Louis have released a graphic video showing officers shooting a knife-wielding man Tuesday after he reportedly ignored orders to drop the weapon.
The video, taken from a cell phone of a witness, shows officers firing several shots at 25-year-old Kajieme Powell, killing him instantly. Police fired a dozen shots overall, according to NYMag.com.

KMOX AM/1120 in St. Louis said police released more details about the shooting on Wednesday. According to KMOX, Police Chief Sam Dotson said officers were called on Tuesday after Powell walked into a convenience store, took two energy drinks, exited the store without paying, and then walked back in and took a package of pastries, again leaving without paying.

Some people seem to have trouble with the concept of paying for things. I guess it all comes from the welfare/entitlement concept that is so prevalent in America today.
I am so disgusted by this: I have not watched the video, but just because someone steals a couple dollars of something from somebody does not mean he should be riddled with bullets. What happened to the police arresting people? Police have gotten impatient. They don’t want to talk people down anymore. Or pull back and arrest them next time. It is disturbing.
Literally, suicide by cop.
Ye, in my town we have weekly police reports involving people trying to walk out of Wal-Mart with stuff. One guy tried it with several flat-screen TVs, while the old scam of walking in, picking something off the shelves, and trying to “return it” without a receipt has re-emerged. The perps are all from nearby Newark NJ, where gibsmedats haven’t paid for anything with their own money since about 1965.
Since you won’t watch the video, I’ll tell you what happened. The thief waited around outside the store holding a big knife, and when the LEOs showed up, walked aggressively toward them, daring them to shoot, and they did.
Now that I watched it I am even more disgusted. I resent living in a police state. There are major thieves on Wall Street and in government who never get touched.
He got riddled with bullets because he charged a cop brandishing a knife.

That is obviously the correct way to do it. If a perp starts waving a knife around and threatening you, jump back in the cruiser and wait till he calms down. If a passer-by happens to get stabbed, no big deal, at least the perps civil rights are still intact. The DEAD person can take consolation in that.
But now you will say that they should do something in that case. They did, he had been walking back and forth into that store, with the knife, and could have stabbed the people working there whenever he wanted. The police told him to drop the knife, he started waving it around more. Maybe they should have shot it out of his hand.
Good movie training there. Have you ever tried to handle a person with a knife? Look up some videos of how a good knife fighter can stab you six or seven times before you can make a move. A knife is just as deadly as a gun, and is actually much more painful than most bullet strikes.
I never saw a knife
Some will say that the cops did not need to shoot this guy. Well, when it’s all going down, the cops don’t have the luxury of knowing what kind of weapons he is carrying.
Being that close to the cops, what if the suspect had a gun and pulled it out of his pocket?
We know now he only had a knife. The cops did not know that at the time.
Anyway, even if 2 cops could physically overtake 1 guy with a knife, it only takes 1 poke in the right place with that knife to kill someone.
Do these officers carry Tasers?
From the video it is difficult to see whether he had anything in his hands.
The video does show other witnesses who may be able to give testimony. Perhaps the police car had a camera too.
The reason it was posted was out of concern this could influence other events in the area.
Cuts can leave lasting damage having been cut accidently too many times I known.
I would not want to be cut on purpose for sure.
tasers were mentioned in the articles and said they were not used because the skin needs to be exposed for them to work?

A taser wasn’t used, Dotson says, because Powell was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and the taser must make contact with skin.
I will commend the police on coming out with th information immediately and posting the video instead of playing hide the ball like Ferguson did
