Obama's domestic agenda forgotten as Ferguson takes over spotlight

Unrest over the police shooting of an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Mo., has completely overshadowed President Obama's domestic priorities, the latest in a string of crises that have derailed the president's agenda.

First, violence in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Gaza and Ukraine put Obama’s preferred “nation building at home” on the back burner. A two-week vacation in Martha’s Vineyard that the president had hoped to use to recalibrate his domestic message has been consumed by questions of race, police tactics and whether he should visit the St. Louis suburb.

The top items on the president's domestic agenda, such as immigration reform, job creation and raising the minimum wage, have been lost in the broader debate about how to put out fires both at home and abroad.

In a press conference Monday, he trumpeted U.S.-backed efforts to help Kurdish forces recapture the Mosul Dam in northern Iraq before discussing the unrest in Ferguson. That developments in Iraq were being framed as the silver lining showcased how problematic Ferguson could become for the White House — and Obama’s image.

The trend has even some allies of the White House questioning whether Obama is stuck in a permanent reactive mode, unable to dictate the terms of the conversation in Washington and across the nation.

Everything he does (and that includes neglect) fans the fires.

Obama's domestic agenda forgotten as Ferguson takes over spotlight

Hence Eric Holder headed to Ferguson. Have to keep the spotlight off Obama's scandals overseas and here at home.

Just wait for his nationwide “Day of Rage”.

Ferguson is the President's domestic agenda. What's left of it, anyway.

Plus whatever he can enact extra-legally without being impeached and removed or stymied in the courts.

Heard that outraged families of vicitms of color will be petitioning the UN to have these cases reviewed in an international court claiming America’s crimes against humanity, you can see where the enemies of America are persuading, guiding and supporting “thier” agenda and where its going

“........the latest in a string of crises that have derailed the president’s agenda.”.........

Odumbo’s agenda has been a train wreck since the day he started as POTUS. Until he is gone, nothing will change. Unfortunately there is NOT ONE PERSON in gubmint that will go after him and get him removed.

He’s not going to get anything through legislatively, so more to his interest that domestic issues fall below the radar until he takes more illegal executive action.

And how could he resist fanning the flames of a perceived “race war”?

“And how could he resist fanning the flames of a perceived “race war”?”

The Race War is a crisis that is virtually manufactured...I think the term is ‘trumped up’

Anyway, it works.

It is possible and actually NECESSARY, once your government initiates policies and plans that presuppose (DEMAND) that you go against your own conscience, JUST to live within the ‘law’.

• Don’t object to WH policies
• Don’t defy WH directives
• Don’t censure the President
• Don’t question WH objectives
• Don’t suggest alternatives
• Don’t expect to retain your Constitutional rights

And on and on…. Until in the end and unless we CAN ignore our own consciences, WE WILL ALL BE CRIMINALS.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the DoJ’s flame-fanning “organizers” have been on the ground in Ferguson the way they were dispatched to FL to help out in the Trayvon case.

Right. That goes without saying and by now, it’s the established drill.

I thought that what was happening in in Ferguson WAS precisely mr. mulatos agenda? Inciting hatred among the races, class envy, irrational violence, yup I'd say he was quite happy with the results.
