Let’s see, since nothing’s ever the fault of jug ears it has to be Bush’s fault.... Is that how that works?

Everybody is screaming about the price of beef but I think it's still reasonably priced when compared to going to a casual eating join like Texas Roadhouse or Longhorns.

I paid $17 a pound at the butcher shop for some porterhouse steaks (about $90 worth) and fed four people. The cuts of meat I got were of the quality you normally have to go to a 5-star restaurant for. So still a bargain, in my opinion.

If you are on a budget, you can still get basic cuts of beef at a supermarket for way less than what you pay at an Applebees or Chilis.

120grams of Protein for $4 is still a bargain.

It would take 20 eggs for a similar amount.

Whole chicken runs about the same rate per gram of digestible protein.

It's the cost of grain and all forms of energy that drives this.

Just paid $5.88 for a pound of low-fat burger. On the other hand, also paid $4.99 lb. for ready-to-go applewood smoked ribs at the deli. Guess what I’ll be buying next week.

I sometimes can find a cut of roast on special for less than hamburger and get the butcher to grind it up for me.

I paid $.99/lb. for ground beef in the Bronx in 1978.

This is not just inflation, though. It’s a war on ranchers. The Bundys are the last of 52 ranchers in their country. All the others were put out of business by a government at war with Americans.

Part of the problem is that 40% of the US corn crop is being turned into ethanol

Can either of you two agricultural economics geniuses explain how corn, which was over $8 a bushel last year, and now is at about $3.75, less than half of a year ago, is part of the problem?

Oh, and while you're at it, do you have any genius level ideas what we are going to do with the mountains of surplus corn we are going to harvest in about 10 weeks?

Plow it under? Burn it to heat our homes and fuel our cars?

Another idea? Beuller?

Ship it to the starving people around the world, and the Bible says ‘give and it shall be given unto you...pressed down and running over’. That has been how America became so prosperous, through hard work, freedom, God, and sharing with others.

People are not buying the gas with more than 10% ethanol in it (made from corn), because it hurts some car engines, and you do not get the gas mileage as with other gasolines.

Supply and Demand...hence hamburger/ground meat go up in crisis due to demand for cheaper meats. Simple economics, and the bad economy due to the IDIOT in the WH not doing his job. Which is creating jobs and fixing the economy!

Very nice.

Remember this was an economic challenge?

Who is going to pay the farmer?
