WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama returned to Washington just after midnight Monday for a two-day break from a summer vacation, during which airstrikes in Iraq and violent clashes in a St. Louis suburb intruded on his golf and beach plans.
The exact reason for Obama's return remained unclear, though it appeared aimed in part at countering criticism that Obama was spending two weeks on the Massachusetts resort island of Martha's Vineyard in the midst of multiple crises. ...
Obama had meetings on both matters scheduled for Monday. The president was scheduled to return to Martha's Vineyard Tuesday night.
The president spent a leisurely Sunday on the island before his late-night departure. He played a round of golf — his most frequent vacation activity — then attended a jazz concert and dinner with first lady Michelle Obama.

Rush just said he’ll simply extend the vacation a couple more days to make up for any time he just spent in Washington.
Perhaps the MVY courses are much tougher, ice cream that much harder on the digestion... some well-earned R&R back in DC where the course PAR is more to his liking, the ice cream easier on the gut - you know, he’s getting on in years, and not able to vacation as hard as he used to.
With all the vacations he takes, this is a rare appearance in DC.

When went on vacation, we did EVERYTHING together. It’s called a family vacation. If hubby even thought about golfing, we would have fired him.

IMO, baraq went back to either 1. Get something he couldn’t get in Martha’s Vineyard, or 2. He was summoned back by his boss, Valerie. That is why his media is keeping quiet about the details.

That IS the way it reads.
This is nothing more than a public relations stunt to try to silence the criticism over his constant golf outings, fund raisers, and vacation getaways. There was no other reason for him to return to the White House just to make the meaningless comments that he made in his little press conference yesterday. This “abrupt return” to the White House was most likely planned well in advance by his handlers.
