(CBS/AP) – Workers at a state-of-the-art solar plant in the Mojave Desert have a name for birds that fly through the plant’s concentrated sun rays — “streamers,” for the smoke plume that comes from birds that ignite in midair.

And this is why they excuse the “collateral damage” caused by their always-failing policies -

it’s always about them feeling good about themselves,
it’s NEVER really about helping anyone or about the stated goals (saving the erf).

The birds could mass poop on all Prius cars. I wonder if we could train them to do this?

It is only reasonable to note that wildlife is also killed by the effects of mining and transporting fuel for more traditional types of power plants.

An actually meaningful approach would be to determine and compare the number and types of wildlife killed using Method A of generating electricity versus Method B.

I don’t consider less than 8 birds a month over 4,000 acres carnage.

The least they could do is name the solar facility after Randy Johnson:

How do they handle this in Germany? I read recently that somewhere between 25 and 30% of their power was from a combination of solar and wind.

Maybe the answer is that they are using flat solar panels, and the concentrated mirror/tower technology is unique to the U. S., but that’s speculation on my part. Of course, Germany still has windmills—but a lot of them are offshore, where the only birds that will run into them are seagulls.

That’s right. Liberals have been getting innocent beings killed for decades now.

Spot on! DDT saved millions of 3rd world lives before some liberal thought it might blind a fish in some river somewhere. Now those poor people have to use only nets.

MTBE was suppose to make all fuel cleaner. But it turns out that it is a manmade carcinigine that cannot be filtered out of ground water once it is leached into it. But that's ok. They say it's not quite as bad for you as arsenic. (But they quit studying it after the refineries reported it was too late, they already re-tooled their plants).

All liberal policies are aimed at controlling the behavior of others. The tool the use to push these policies is emotion. And Americans (generally speaking) are too stupid to think past their own emotion and routinely fall for it. We are becomming to stupid to govern ourselves.

Then you must have lost your Tinfoil Liberal hat. Find it. Put it back on your head and you will see how Hugh and Series this is.

Since obozo has been in the WH solar energy projects have become a primary avenue used by politicians to scam tax payer money to enrich themselves and their friends. Follow the money.

As with all things, liberals are divided into the “evil” and “deceived” columns.

Yes, the “evil” use the “deceived”’s need for self-righteousness to empower and enrich themselves.

I agree. How many birds are killed each year by housecats?

There was this huge puff of smoke up in the sky, then I got bopped on the head... with an egg!

Well, I tell ya, son-- If it is a chicken hawk egg... it is a good thing!

Only if the egg... is hard boiled.

EPA and Obama have exempted these types of solar/wind plants from any culpability concerning birds including Eagles with the wind turbine plants so the liberal / left thought process is.. if exempted it doesn’t matter.

How costly would it be to surround the solar “farms” with some kind of bird-scaring noisemakers to prevent their flying into the death zone?
