Texans for Public Justice is able to continue its work thanks to generous support from the following foundations:

It is a dismaying phenomena of modern America, that no matter how conservative the original donor / creator was, it seems almost inevitable that the charitable foundation created will go over to the 'dark side!' The Ford Foundation is infamous for that and I think that the Rockefeller Family Fund has done much the same although the later Rockefeller generations became a lot more liberal than the original patriarch, John D Senior. Don't have an explanation of why, but it may be that the laws governing such are bent towards liberal activism.

This is very interesting. The Magnolia Trust was a small, limited-term family foundation which supported non-profit groups working to protect habitat and wildlife in Texas, as well as other environmental topics selected by the trustees. After operating for 12 years, the Trust has completed its work and has shut down. No future grants will be made.

I now have found the Texans for Public Justice listed on the Magnolia Trust Grant list as Public Justice Foundation of Texas.

This cattle operation is run by a 20-year partnership of the Wray and Strunk families. The Strunk family is entering its 5th generation in the Texas cattle and livestock industry, with roots in the Oakland and Weimar area reaching back into the late 1800s. The Wray family began its cattle operation in 1949 in the Columbus area, and later branched out to manage property in Borden, Weimar and Ammansville. Billy Bob Strunk and Lucie Wray Todd lead the partnership, with key help from Donald Dobecka and Morris Stark.

Yes, they certainly do. But I don’t know why. I’m not that familiar with TX politics but it would seem to me that the public would look at an indictment by a prosecutor who got busted for a BAC 3x the legal limit then went on a verbal rampage against the cops who arrested her, against a guy who tried to force her to resign over it, and would see it as completely politically motivated. And would react accordingly.

Yea it almost seems like a due process violation for a single county to be able to exercise statewide jurisdiction to parties that may not have any direct connection to or committed any offense in said county.
In the end you don’t end up with a jury of your peers.
It’s prosecution without representation. It’s an argument at least.
But the best way would be for the legislature to fix it.
We have such big majorities that there’s no reason not to address it ASAP.
