Ferguson: When Stupid and Evil Reign, It's Good to Own a Gun

Incompetence and evil sometimes prevail. Even in America.

We can’t control stupid and evil.

We can buy firearms and learn how to safely use them in order to protect ourselves, our property, and our families.

Stupid and evil will tear apart a society whenever given the chance. You have an obligation to prepare yourself.

Seems like incompetence and evil are more frequent than "sometimes" these days. Odd that firearms sales reportedly have quadrupled in the Ferguson area in the past week or so. Sounds like NICS has been busy. No matter where you are, unless you KNOW you can't, for whatever reason, defend yourself and loved ones, I agree that there is an obligation to prepare. Luckily most of my neighbors are of that mind set and we have a loose plan of action.

“You have an obligation to prepare yourself.”

However, this obligation extends in three other directions.

The first is protecting your family and neighbors, some of whom cannot effectively defend themselves, such as the infirm, elderly, and children.

The second is protecting innocent strangers from violence and chaos. While this is situational, it is a good sign of character.

Third is the protection not seen. If you harm or kill someone who is criminal, violent and a threat to society, you have prevented *future* crime, violence and threat by that individual. The victimization of some or many others. And, if you kill them, you may save the taxpayers $1,000,000 or so for each decade they would have spent in prison. This adds up.

“No matter where you are, unless you KNOW you can’t, for whatever reason, defend yourself and loved ones, I agree that there is an obligation to prepare.”

Well put. Your solemn words of warning bear repeating.

and another alternative, which seems to continue to occur in Ferguson is called white flight.

no freaking way would I stay in a city that has this type of rioting.

I live in Los Angeles, and the minute my neighborhood erupts like this, I’m out of here. I live in the mountains currently, so no chance of that. But is IS one of the major factors of why I also work in a safe area.

I left Detroit in 1985... and this was a contributing factor.. my neighborhood going downhill. the minute you start seeing graffiti, loitering, trash and less upkeep on peoples homes.... bad bad sign.

It is so nice to live in Western Arkansas where I am surrounded by 100,000 rednecks with rifles, shot guns, and handguns. Oh yeh, I am one of them. ;-)

Thank you Paulie. I know there are some folks that can NOT bring themselves to do what is needed. It isn’t something to be taken lightly and unless you can find peace with God in doing what needs to be done, obviously (to me anyway), don’t undertake it and risk having your “protection” taken away from you and turned on you.

His supporters claim that ‘Big Mike’ was also trying to improve his life by planning to attend college before his plans were interrupted.

Maybe I’ve missed it, but has the college released a statement expressing their regret with sympathy to the family?

I place myself under no obligation to protect a liberal, who is too stupid to buy his own guns.

Obligations of this type are self-assumed, so if you want to leave an unarmed liberal to the zombie hoard, that’s your choice. But in the vast majority of cases, the people you protect will be worthy, not wanting.

The good news is that the store security video that showed the person who was was the cause of all the rioting in Ferguson, MO, will simply once and for all END such NONSENSE very quickly. It is condeming evidence.

One could hope, but as we all know, facts don’t matter to these clowns. Some of the locals have already said that it isn’t “tiny” on the video. I can recommend a good eye doctor if needed. Unless there’s dozens of 6’4” 295 lb children runnin’ around Ferguson.
