I don’t think a judge is involved in a grand jury indictment. A grand jury is usually used to bypass a preliminary hearing before a judge.

That is correct. No Judge unless a witness refuses to answer questions, something like that.

And yes. We used the Grand Jury to bypass the prelim all the time.
