At least one person is killed every day by a U.S. police officer, a new report says. On average, local police forces kill 400 people every year in the Unites States, according to a seven-year FBI study. In 2012, cops were responsible for 410 deaths. All but one was with a firearm. About a fourth of those annual incidents — about 96 a year, or two every week — involve a white officer and a black victim, USA Today reported.

In a nation of 320 million, that’s a pretty small number. How many of those were committing a crime when they were killed?
Good question. Maybe an honest, ambitious, investigative reporter will do just that..
Since there are roughly 700,000 LEOs in the country I would say that’s not too bad.

The press is concerned about that, but not the fact that we no longer have a border and anyone from drug gangs to terrorists could be flooding over every second. “Gee why is there 10,000 ISIS terrorists with M-16s and rocket launchers surrounding my town?”

Crime is rampant in our cities. It’s like a war zone in high crime areas, especially in the ‘hoods.’
That’s an incredibly small number.
I don’t think the sensationalist understand how they are undercutting their own argument.

Jim, I live here in a smaller city now, and had more than my share of large ones...but I gotta say the crime rate here and types of crimes is astounding!

Precisely! How many of those people were killed while in the process of committing a crime? How many of those people would have harmed someone else if the cops had not killed them?
In and of itself, this statement is just another publicity grabbing, misleading headline perpetrated on us by the media. It seeks to indict the cops FIRST with explanations later, maybe!

Since blacks are represented in far greater numbers in violent crime statistics when compared to their being 12% of the population, these statistics probably indicate that police are more likely to use lethal force against a non-black suspect.
Its been a few years since cops killed someone in my county and in that case it was after he killed a rookie cop.
Like clockwork the morons blamed the police for pursuing him. After all the perp was just a peaceful man who didn’t really mean it when he was waving the shotgun around and threatening to kill his wife, neighbors, kids etc.
If anything I’m guessing police don’t shoot in situations that would justify it far more often than when they shoot in situations that don’t justify it. In the news, if it bleeds it leads.
