CAIRO (AP) — Egypt's top cleric has condemned the extremist Islamic State group, describing it as a "terrorist" organization that poses a danger to Islam and Muslims.

Grand Mufti Shawki Allam, Egypt's highest religious authority, said the extremist group is "violating all the Islamic principles and the intentions of the Shariah (Islamic law)." In his remarks, which were carried by Egypt's state news agency late Tuesday, Allam also said the "bloody extremist group" had tarnished the image of Islam and paved the way for the destruction of Muslim nations.

Yet, even 1400 years ago, ISIS is just following the message of their allah "...inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." per Surat Al-'Anfāl (The Spoils of War) 8:12 (Yusuf Ali)

Amazingly, these positive developments in Egypt and the Muslim world are happening DESPITE opposition from President Obama, not as a result of Obama’s leadership in the region.

He will give their kings into your hand, and you will wipe out their names from under heaven. No one will be able to stand up against you; you will destroy them.
Deut 7:24

sounds pretty similar...

Remember the movie Khartoum (1966) staring Charlton Heston. About another muslim fanatic in another time trying to kill everyone. The Mahdi. Is this a reoccuring theme in islam?

Much like a fresh turd tarnishes a sewer pipe.

We tried to rent that movie from Netflix, but they don't offer it.

There is something many people overlook when discussing Muslims. How they interpret the Koran. Most do not read it and make their own reflections as Protestants do with the KJV. They listen and follow their clerics in a similar way to Catholicism. The clerics interpret a great deal of scholarly religious literature beyond the Koran. They undergo formal training and testing to determine their fitness as religious civic leaders.

It’s the fanatics that pick up the Koran, read it for themselves for their own conclusions, usually in the service of their own ambitions. This is a known phenomena among Muslims and it is considered irresponsible and even dangerous to Muslims. As it has become clear.

This clerics argument makes complete sense in this regard and I believe he is being sincere and truthful because he is correct. Iraq’s senior Shia cleric Al-Sistani has made similar statements about ISIS but characterized it as more of a threat to Iraq. Al Sadr is seen as an upstart, a troublemaker as he skirts the Shia hierarchy on the basis of his (dead) father’s influence and his financial support from Iran.

Not quite. I have seen other people in other places try to compare the writings of the Koran to the writings in the Bible (usually Deuteronomy, which is actually someone else writing about what Moses supposedly said before he died). So I went and read it for myself. In the Bible, God tells the Israelites in their exodus to attack certain cities (usually those that are particularly wicked) and God promises them victory. However, some of the Israelites got full of themselves and attacked other cities and lost in battle, and the Bible says that God never gave them approval to attack those cities. So even if you believe that the Bible does such a dastardly thing as to give God's approval to sack a city, the Bible has NEVER given approval to attack EVERY city or EVERY nonbeliever, and later books of the Bible specifically reject that notion, so the Bible really is nothing like the Koran. The Koran first and foremost speaks of itself as a reaction to Jews and Christians, and the Koran's followers are using it for political goals, whereas Jesus specifically steered clear of politics (”render unto Caesar what is Caesar's).

That's the difference.

In general, when politicians use religion as a tool to gain power, some people blame the religion, but they should be blaming the politician.

Absolutely. And at the end of the movie, Heston’s General Gordon has his head removed and put on a stick

One report says ISIS is beheading Christian children in Mosul and putting the heads on sticks in a park. Catholic press has released some incredibly ugly attrocity pictures on ISIS.

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'
Sen. Rand Paul is hammering his fellow senators for keeping billions in financial aid flowing to Egypt's military -- even as Cairo's security forces massacre anti-government activists. [by "anti-government activists" is meant church-burning Christian-murdering jihadists]
