I’ve often wondered about this. Why is it that Hollywood idiots are liberal, almost unanimously. And, why is it that our entertainment culture is full of troubled people, people who are not in full control of themselves, people who have these mental problems, or whatever you want to call them. They are allowed to be on TV and movies, and influence the rest of us, even though they are such troubled people.
The Democratic Party is the State Church of Hollywood.

You're right of course and this is the problem with our country. With all due respect to Mr. Williams, there are much more important news stories the public should be concerned about.
The best example, to give a direct comparison, is the absolute genocide of Christians and other minorities by ISIS (or whatever they call themselves now). People, even children, are getting their heads chopped off (even worse).
Again, with all due respect to Robin Williams, of all the millions of people who are mourning his death with such passion, if they had as much passion for those victims of ISIS the tide might be turned over there.
If I'm flamed for calling such selective compassion reprehensible so be it. Our obsession with celebrity truly is reprehensible though.

Having worked in a small corner of the entertainment world, this one is easy to answer.
Most of them have extremely low self-esteem and need the acclaim of how great they are from scores of adoring fans.

A brain is an organic component that can sustain damage just the same as a heart, an eye, a hand or a foot. Don’t put things into it that cause damage, for starters. Some are born with failed functioning aspects of the brain and they should be REQUIRED to be in care. Some get damage along the way, they also should be REQUIRED to be in care.
Why is there no established system nation-wide for this?
A mandatory, nation-wide system of mental heath care, like Obamacare?

ADHD is real. But you’re right in the fact that it is overdiagnosed in children. And in even the real cases medication is way over prescribed. In childhood ADHD much of the symptoms can be handled by a change in diet and behavior modification therapy. Unfortunately parents put too much credence into the doctors suggestion that medication is the only way to go.

We had ADHD when I went to school too. It was called ROWDY, as in he is a rowdy youngun aint he?, then he or she would whip your butt. Instant cure for rowdy and I am sure it would be for ADHD.
I know that often a kid will qualify for Social Security on the basis of ADHD. I have known of cases where the mother would lobby the teacher to call in medical help for ADHD, mom wanted a check. Just a normal mom teaching her kid how to scam the system.
Diet high in sugar and caffeine, think Mountain Dew for breakfast, would result in a kid who would be just a touch rowdy. Just my opinion, course strikes me as strange that it seems to most often occur in boys.
