Fisher King was surprisingly not funny and surprisingly good.

He was an attack dog for Bill Clinton in the nineties. I never heard much about his politics before that. Regardless, RIP and thank you for the entertainment.

Very nice summary, Talisker. Not just for Williams but for liberals in general. Conservatives are unhappy at the loss of freedoms. Liberals get everything they desire and become more unhappy.

Happiness isn't really a liberal/conservative thing, not at all.
Its far more connected to attitude than political-leanings (not to say that those leanings don't tend to impact attitude).

I believe you’re correct, that he took Reeves children after the parents both passed away.

Regardless of his adult humor, my kids have.named numerous wholesome movies they have loved and it reminds me he was funny in a family way as well.

Garp was one of two movies I walked out of. But it wasn’t Williams’ fault. It was just a bad movie.

I remember him appearing on Johnny Carson; he was absolutely crazy and went on a five minute non-stop stream of consciousness. It was one of the funniest live performances I’ve ever seen. Carson could not stop laughing.

Genius has its dark side. RIP Mr. Williams.

I watched an HBO standup of Robin one time, looking forward to many laughs. But he over loaded his shtick with F-this and F-that so much, I switched channels.

Drug-induced ‘illness’.

I am going to try VERY hard to be polite in my response.

I have been clean and sober since 5/18/1985, AND have suffered on occasion with depression.

Let's turn that phrase over in our minds a few times, shall we?

Drug-induced 'illness'...

Drug-induced? quite possibly. Illness? Most definitely

Chicken??? Egg???

You tell me. Did his 'Illness' drive him to drugs, or did his drug use drive him to his illness.

When you can answer that question to at least six decimal places, or you have walked a mile in those kinds of shoes, just maybe you should consider showing a small dose of compassion for those who have suffered.

I never understood why such a naturally funny man had to resort to the kind of vulgarity he used I his stand up. I think I saw three minutes of his stand up once and never saw another. I did adore Mork though and really enjoyed his dramatic films. Groucho Marx, of all people, once said that a ‘real’ comedian didn’t have to resort to blue humor to make people laugh. Robin was a real comedian...I’m sorry he resorted to that kind of stuff.

“suicide due to asphyxia”.

I suspect that he was found naked in a closet, with something tied around his neck. Like David Carradine (72) and Michael Hutchence (37). Autoerotic asphyxiation.
