You Want Nazis?

There have been Christians in Mosul for just shy of two millennia, since the first century. There are none today.

The Yazidi are practitioners of Kurdistan's oldest religion, fire-worshippers whose presence in the region predates Islam. They're either being executed or starved to death on a mountain:

We are being slaughtered. Our entire religion is being wiped off the face of the earth.

ISIS are fast-track Nazis. No messing about with a few property restrictions and intermarriage laws as a little light warm-up: They're only in the business of "final solutions", and they start on Day One and don't quit until the last Christian and Yazidi is dead or fled. As I've often remarked about today's exhaustively cleansed Maghreb, Levant and Araby, Islam is king on a field of corpses. But pikers like the Muslim Brotherhood, the Baathists, the House of Saud take their time. ISIS are shooting for the Guinness Book of Records.

“People at the UN know that Israel is defending the lives of it’s citizens against radical Islam and the ONLY thing radical Islam (or secular PLO) understands is MASSIVE DISPROPORTIONAL ATTACKS.”

In my opinion, the only thing that a weaker enemy who won’t play by the rules understands is MASSIVE, GROSSLY DISPROPORTIONAL, OUTRAGEOUS ATTACKS. So bad, that grandparents will tell their descendents about 75 years from now in hushed tones. In the long run, that type of war results in fewer casualties and a longer peace. Russians understand this.

I laugh when I read about how people are whining about the children who were killed in UN schools. I want to know where the UN was when Hamas was setting up shop and the missile launchers next door, or in the parking lot. Where were the older brothers of those children? Where were their parents? Certainly, there are a lot more Palestinians than Hamas members. You would think that they could wipe out Hamas themselves with nothing more that bricks and iron pipes.

I don’t recall a lot of whining when we carpet-bombed entire cities in World War II, killing tens of thousands of civilians at a crack. We did this, because those people, including their children, were supporting the war machinery that was trying to kill us. It really IS that simple.

Except that Hamas et al. routinely -- and publicly -- execute anyone they suspect of "collaborating" with the enemy. They've been doing it for years, pour encourager les autres. IIRC they just executed another 30 a couple of weeks ago.

...this is not just a story of one bunch of obscure foreigners sticking it to another bunch of obscure foreigners. It's also a story of a dying superpower betraying its friends in retreat:... Perhaps it's just as well we're so bad at "winning hearts and minds". We won Karim's heart and mind - and then ran over it in the stampede for the exits.

Ghastly.

But we have had lots of practice. The millions of dead and dispossessed after our previous betrayal in Southeast Asia attest to that and we all know what political Party is responsible for that one as well.

The Democrat Party has killed more innocents than ISIS.

This is how liberty dies, with a thousand cuts, day after day after day. Bill Clinton famously said, "The age of Big Government is over". And in a sense he's right: This is an age of small, itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny government, in which nothing is too inconsequential and trivial not to command the attention of the federal enforcers - until, cumulatively, all the itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny government adds up to the biggest government ever seen.

Where is America's so-called party of small government on this stuff? When are the Republican Party's leaders going to pipe up?

Sadly, there isn't a party for small government in this nation. America will descend into the bloody tyranny of the big government neo-facists before we are finally willing to stand up and push them back. With any luck, the "zombie apocalypse" will eventually have a happy ending. I doubt I'll live to see it though.

It may be (a) depressing (Steyn column), but only because it is the truth.

It's beyond depressing...we need to call our Congresscritters.

The lack of weapons for the Pesh Merga (sic) to defend against ISIS' stolen hi-tech USA tanks, rocket-launchers, etc. is unforgiveable.

More so, leaving all those people stranded on that bleak desert mountain...it simply cannot be allowed to stand that ISIS should slaughter all those people, AND, gain their caliphate base from which to attack even more people, using our own technology (stolen from Maliki's "army", that WE trained, supposedly)...

It doesn't matter what happened before, whether the previous Iraq wars were right or wrong...THIS needs to be addressed, and NOW!
