Let the science guide us, huh? I notice that logic doesn’t apply to “climate Change”. Unless he’s referring to junk science.

Great, then if as you say it is already being sold internationally, then the president should have mentioned it to get us off the hook.

Where did I say it was being sold internationally?

Cite please?

It’s a Japanese compound.

Ask yourself why we haven’t heard about it in our MSM. All they talk about is the magical serum that’s in dire short supply and of dubious effectiveness.

It sounds like you think, we only have a few doses. If this is true, I agree. We can save the doses for Americans that have been affected, but unless the serum is difficult to make, they should be able to make plenty more. I don’t think that is the reason. It is more an ethical problem. Should we give it to the citizens of another country if it hasn’t been tested with our usual thorough guidelines.

The problem is Ebola is spreading fast. I think if the patients agree to receiving the drug, we should start giving it to them.

You could take a breath and relax, you are raging at me on two different threads.

Why don’t you link us to this cure that is being sold in Japan so that we can learn about it?

I actually think he’s right for a change. Those serums in the works are experimental…might cause more harm than good. You mentioned a Japanese product, perhaps they’ll send it to Africa now. Why should it be our job when others can take it on?

Just saw this article:

FDA lifts hold on experimental Ebola drug
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/fda-lifts-hold-experimental-ebola-drug-212704896.html

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. health authorities have eased safety restrictions on an experimental drug to treat Ebola, a move that could clear the way for its use in patients infected with the deadly virus.

Canadian drugmaker Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corp. said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration modified a hold recently placed on the company's drug after safety issues emerged in human testing.

The company has a $140 million contract with the U.S. government to develop its drug, TKM-Ebola, which targets the genetic material of Ebola. But last month the FDA halted a small study of the injection in adults to request additional safety information.

Tekmira said Thursday the agency “verbally confirmed” changes to the hold that may allow the company to make the drug available, although it has yet to be proven as safe and effective.

Two Americans diagnosed with Ebola recently received a different experimental drug called ZMapp, made by Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc. of San Diego. It is aimed at boosting the immune system's efforts to fight off Ebola and is made from antibodies produced by lab animals exposed to parts of the virus.

The U.S. aid workers were first treated in Liberia. And while the FDA must grant permission to use experimental treatments in the United States, it does not have authority over the use of such a drugs in other countries...

I think the number of doses we have is tiny at this moment, when or if we mass produce it, and when we have a grip on where this Ebola outbreak is going domestically, then will be the time to discuss shipping overseas.

An experimental drug tried on two Americans should not be triggering this response and calls to ship what we have to Africa.

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2014/08/08/national/science-health/ebola-drug-japan-may-emerge-among-key-candidates/

Already stockpiled there in the event of a flu outbreak.

http://www.allfordrugs.com/2014/01/09/favipiravir-phase-3-clinical-trials-for-investigational-flu-treatment-drug-started/

Already in phase III clinical trials in this country for use as a flu drug.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24583123 “Successful treatment of advanced Ebola virus infection with T-705 (favipiravir) in a small animal model”

It’s way less ‘experimental’ than the magical serum in that it’s *already* been studied for safety in humans. Is being studied for that right now in this country.

The question I have is this.

Why haven’t WE been told about the Japanese drug?

If ebola gets here, do you think they would suddenly make it available for us? Or implement rationing with the serum that IS made here instead?

He is ok with it as long as EBOLA stays in Christian nations. Once it hits the muzzy world, watch him push for it’s immediate distribution.

West Africa, where this outbreak has happened, is largely Muzzie.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea

“Islam is the majority religion. Approximately 85% of the population is Muslim, while 8% is Christian, and 7% holds traditional animist beliefs. Guinean Muslims are generally Sunni of Maliki school of jurisprudence, influenced with Sufism,[59] with many Ahmadiyya;[60] there are relatively few Shi’a in Guinea. Christian groups include Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Baptists, Seventh-day Adventists, and other Evangelical groups. Jehovah’s Witnesses are active in the country and recognized by the Government. There is a small Baha’i community. There are small numbers of Hindus, Buddhists, and traditional Chinese religious groups among the expatriate community.[61]”

About time.

The effectiveness study in pubmed http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24583123 was done months ago.

It is to our benefit to stop this outbreak as soon as possible. The more generations this thing reproduces in humans, the greater the chance it’ll figure us out better and Bad Things Will Happen(tm).

When I google it, it seems that it is no secret, the general public just wasn’t paying attention, is like the drug used on the doctor, it has been around a while as well.

CNBC May, 2013 “””Our successful collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense’s JPM-TMT program is ongoing, with recent modifications to our approximately $140 million contract, which will support development plans that integrate advancements in our lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation and manufacturing technologies, while providing additional funding for the TKM-Ebola program,” added Dr. Murray.””

The Fujifilm drug is NOT the Tekmira drug.

Two totally different compounds/techniques.

Fujifilm != Tekmira.
