Thrash metal band Megadeth and hip hop star CeeLo Green joined a growing list of entertainers on Tuesday whose scheduled concerts in Israel have been cancelled amid the Gaza crisis.
Los Angeles-based Megadeth was due to play in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, but on its website the group said it wasnt able to secure a guarantee that it could make it.
The band was looking forward to this concert and is disappointed they will not be able to put on the show for their fans, but expects to return to Tel Aviv on their next international tour, it said.

Ping
eh who needs em
IIRC, Neil Young’s concert was cancelled by the Tel Aviv police, who were worried that it would be a target for Hamas rockets. Don’t know about any of the other performers.
CeeLo? See low. How will Israel manage without these musical giants? Apparently it’s now hip to be terrorist-loving Jew haters.
I think the Mega death band was one of those sorts you needed to be stoned out of your mind to appreciate, if I recall what my ex-wife’s kids were all about...............
Don’t think Megadeth cancelled because of any anti-Israel position. Dave Mustaine is pretty right-on politically.
I have no idea who the other person is.
will they play in Iran/Saudi Arabia...I’m sure they would be welcomed
better off without them anyway
There is zero indication they are doing this for political reasons.
There is every indication they are doing this for safety reasons, and perhaps they can’t get insurance for their tour if they go into the current situation.
One-hit wonder dwarf Cee Lo Green, of “Eff You” fame?
Has-been hard-core heavy metal’s “Megadeth?”
I’d be devastated for sure...
Oh, wait.. that’s not me.
Though not a fan of either group, I take back some
Of my earlier sarcasm...
This, from the Sydney Morning Herald:
“Megadeth Frontman Dave Mustaine recently made it known that he was determined to honour the band’s commitment to fans in Israel, defiantly insisting he’s “not a politician, but a musician”, and adding, “At the end of the day, I don’t take s—t from anybody” as he vowed to perform as scheduled in August 6.
“However, late on Monday, management officials announced they have since decided to cancel the show at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Center as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict rumbles on.
“A statement posted on Megadeth’s website reads: “Due to an inability to confirm the guaranteed passage of the band and their gear into Tel Aviv in time for the show, the upcoming Megadeth concert, scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, 2014, has been cancelled.”
It is clear from most of the replies so far, no one left on this site has any comprehension and/or just knee jerk replies out of their pre conceived opinions and emotions.
That happens a lot here on FR.
Dave Mustaine is pretty conservative, so they probably canceled use to safety issues.
Yes, that is my take, as well.
Music and politics rarely match. I give massive credit to Elton John, who despite his gay lefty politics, played in Israel over the shouted protests of all his lefty musician cohorts, and he also played Rush Limbaugh’s wedding.
Roger Waters on the other hand, who I’m an enormous fan of, has revealed himself as an Antisemite and refuses to play in Israel and supports the BDS movement. I’m about to write him off.
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is very pro Israel so its probably a security issue more than anything.
Sad, isn’t it?
