TX DPS troopers whom I have asked about this say,

"When folks produce both licenses -- CHL first -- we know we're dealing with one of the 'good guys'. We already know about the CHL -- it comes up on our screen when we 'run' the vehicle tag..."

If they already know you have a permit, how does putting the CHL on top make you a good guy? I say assholes.

Treat them as you'd like to be treated, and they reciprocate.

Don't admit you're licensed -- and probably carrying (when they know you are)-- and they figure they are facing an armed (what was that term you used?) -- like you...

I even had one ask me, "Sir do you have your sidearm with you?" And when I answered, "Yes, sir", he said, "Great! It's no damn good if you don't have it with you!"
