Was a UN School in Gaza Really Bombed? (Update: No, It Wasn’t)
Pajamas Media ^ | 08/04/2014 | Rick Moran

The UN is going bonkers because they say another one of their schools in Gaza was shelled. Ten people were killed and dozens injured, but read this account carefully from The Guardian:

A deadly attack on a school in the city of Rafah in the south of Gaza has been denounced as a “moral outrage” and “criminal act” by the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon.

At least 10 people were killed and dozens more wounded after a projectile struck a street outside the school gates on Sunday morning.

The school was sheltering more than 3,000 people displaced by fighting in the area. It has been the scene of heavy bombardment by the Israeli military and fierce clashes following the suspected capture by Hamas fighters of an Israeli soldier, later declared killed in action.

In a statement, Ban called on those responsible for the “gross violation of international humanitarian law” to be held accountable. He said the “Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have been repeatedly informed of the location of these sites.”

At the time of the strike – about 10.50am local time – dozens of children and adults were clustered around the gates buying biscuits and sweets from stalls set up by locals.

The missile struck the ground eight to 10 metres from the open gates. Witnesses at the scene less than an hour after the explosion claimed it had been fired from one of the many unmanned Israeli drones in the air above Rafah.

United Nations officials in Gaza described a “shelling incident” or an air strike.

The attack was not on the school. The bomb hit the street outside the gates of the school and killed and injured people standing at the gate — not in the school itself which was being used as a shelter.

In fact, look at the background of this Guardian video and note that the school appears to be untouched by the explosion:

No, I am not trying minimize the deaths of civilians. But if you’re going to charge Israel with a war crime, don’t you think it would behoove those doing the charging that they get the facts right?

General Secretary Moon could have at least waited for an explanation from the IDF:

The Israeli army said it had targeted three members of Islamic Jihad on a motorbike near the school – contradicting witnesses who said they saw no vehicles – but was investigating the effects of the attack.

To my untrained ear, it sounds like a pinpoint attack. It was a tragedy that people were at the gate buying sweets, but unless the IDF had real time intelligence indicating there were civilians present, why should they expect people to be outside of the shelter?

I think the UN and the press should stop calling this an “attack” on a school and accurately describe it as a strike near a school. Unless there was damage to the school itself or casualties inside the building, it is inaccurate to portray the strike in that way.

UPDATE

The Telegraph reports:

The school had been providing shelter to more than 3,000 people – the same number that had been seeking refuge at a girl’s school in Jabaliya last Wednesday when it came under attack from a hail of Israeli shells.

In contrast to that strike, which wrecked a classroom full of sleeping woman and children, the physical destruction this time appeared minimal: just a small but deep hole in the road where the missile had landed.

As I suspected, the school was untouched.

Does it really matter? I suppose if you want to charge Israel with a war crime for bombing a street, they can try that. It probably works for those already predisposed to hate Israel.

But for the few objective observers out there, it is wholly unacceptable to continue the fiction that a school was bombed when no such event occurred.

The Ø regime came out quickly with an extremely harsh reprimand at Israel for this. Given its speed (prepared beforehand?) and harshness (Hate Israel), it indicates breathtaking duplicity.

This (and more like it) is exactly why the MSM is a joke.

OK, I’m not an expert. but the man in the medium looks staged. He is already bandaged and is OK. And one other man is listed in the video, and no building looks like it was hit with anything. So, why is it only men that are filmed as hurt? Where they the men in the car the Israelis were trying to get, you know, terrorists?

Who voted in Hamas? The same people who complain about multiple warnings to vacate and then stay in place...the same people who know of tunnels and rocket launchers in and around their homes and do nothing (silence is support). The same people who distribute sweets and celebrate on the death or kidnapping of Israelis. War is a bitch, but civilian supporters of terrorism have willingly elected to take the risk. Sorry...no sympathy from me.

Just a side observation.

What are all these people (mostly males from what I can see in the video) doing milling and standing around in the middle of a war zone? The Israelis have told them to leave. They don’t look like they have jobs or work. It looks to me like this is how they make their living, carting injured or dead people off for the cameras and the world to see. This is their whole lives. They remind me of the people who stayed behind in New Orleans when Katrina hit. Not smart enough to get out of harms way. But at the same time bitching and whining about how bad it was and wanting someone else to solve their problem.

It is hard for me to offer much sympathy for these people (except the small children who don’t any say in the matter) when they elected and support the terrorist organization Hamas to run their country. How’s that working out for you?

None of the children victims I saw over the weekend had much if any blood on them . . .

I believe a lot of the gruesome photos of dead children floating around are not actually from Gaza. They’re just random photos of dead children in war zones.

Lots of pictures out there showing the same bodies in different locations. In some shots their out on the street, others show same persons inside the gate. Also note lack of blast damage. Its all staged.

Iirc, when confronted with this same situation during the Bosnian air campaign, the US started dropping concrete filled laser guided practice bombs on targets near schools and hospitals.

A 500lb or 2000lb precision guided concrete bomb is going to make a hell of a mess, butvwith a much tighter damage radius. Same thing is true of warheadless Hellfires and mavericks used for KE kills.

If the UN wasn’t complicit in the storage of rockets and arms by Hamas in their schools and hospitals, they wouldn’t be in any danger.

The UN officials keep acting like they are surprised when rockets are found in their facilities. Tell me how the officials in charge don’t see the rockets and arms being brought into their facilities.

They obviously raise no objections to their ‘humanitarian’ facilities being used as arms dumps by Hamas so they shouldn’t be surprised when the facilities are considered to be legitimate targets.

Not only was it not inside the school grounds but there are pictures of a man carrying a toddler which in some reports, and sometimes within the same report, claim she’s dead and others claiming she’s injured. IOW, the msm is throwing about claims of which they know nothing. No doubt she had at least been injured but don’t print someone is dead unless there is solid proof. Of course, either way it is sad that any children see war.

Wonder if Hamas intentionally set up a cookie selling place there on purpose knowing there’d be kids there.

These people are such pathetic actors its not even funny.

You can tell when a camera shows up, they all go into OMG, OMG!!!! mode.

Remember the video a few years back, of the guy getting out of the casket in the funeral procession after the main camera stopped rolling?

And the same outraged woman, reaching and crying to the heavens, who magically showed up at every attack site in the city.

Only the MSM could be stupid enough to fall for this crap

I’m waiting for good ol’ “Green Helmet Man” to show up in these pictures. Remember him and other faked death and destruction blamed, yet again, on Israel back in ‘06?

Here’s a great photo series of faked msm photos: http://www.zombietime.com/reuters_photo_fraud/
