Dear “Conservatives” and “Establishment Republicans,”
I write today in the hope you all can get over whatever anger, distrust or bruised egos this primary season and political year has caused you. We on the right need to unite and send a message to progressives by unambiguously retaking the U.S. Senate in November.
We all have some problem with what’s happened so far. Someone we liked lost a primary. Someone we didn’t won. Some piece of legislation we hate passed; some other piece we liked did not. No one is completely happy, but we all know things can get much worse – and will if we don’t put aside what divides and do what we must for the cause of liberty.
The political right has a habit of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. This is exemplified by libertarians, and it’s the fast track to political irrelevancy.
Libertarians will hate that I’ve placed them on the right of the political spectrum, and indeed many of today’s libertarians indeed have no political home and are all over the map. Today, the term covers everything from the great Reason Magazine to big-government, socialized medicine-loving Bill Maher. The present day “libertarian” label can mean anything, so it means nothing.
But I’m not talking about those libertarians. I’m talking about the Ron Paul libertarians who were quite comfortable in a Republican Party with which they agreed on a majority of issues.
Back then, libertarians put aside their differences with conservatives and Republicans to work for the defeat of liberals and progressives. All three groups thrived, as did the nation. But now too many focus on the disagreements, the differences, and the scars that come with fighting for what we believe, win or lose.

Regardless, my first point is the most important. If you want unity, you'd better tell your buddies to work hard to support tea party candidates when they win primaries. Otherwise, we will treat your wing of the GOP as the enemy (the same as the Democrats), the same way they have treated us (and continue to do so). I used to see a huge difference between the parties. Mississippi opened my eyes and reminded me of past backstabbings. Well, no more.
Though Derek addresses his letter to “conservatives” and “establishment Republicans”, from his examples, he obviously is representing Establishment Republicans and does not take them to task for anything. The default is that he is targeting the rest, i.e. libertarians and tea party people.
I for one, have no time for the “establish republicans” as they no longer represent what was once the conservatives in this country.

Oh, and that your obstinance gave the most radical leftist progressives ever to occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., a freer hand to replace however many Supreme Court justices retire or die in the next two years with like- minded progressive activists uninterested in the Constitution.”
One key word: ELECTABLE. The GOP/tea-party/conservatives need to nominate someone who is electable in the general election. This key point seems to be ignored, resulting in a Dem win and Dem control.
It ain't that we lost a primary in Mississippi - it's the corrupt, despicable approach the GOP-e took to eke out a tainted win. So get over yourself. I'd rather lose that seat in MS than to validate the GOP-E's methods in that runoff.

But Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid do represent you?
There are only TWO choices.
Bite me. The GOP-E nominates plenty of bozos but establishment apologists like yourself never mention that. Nor do you mention how the GOP-E knifes tea party winners in the back out of sheer spite.

Then so be it. It is far more important that the GOP-E’s actions in the Mississippi runoff not bear fruit, lest we see them repeated against Tea Party candidates in later elections. It should have been a safe seat for the GOP if McDaniels had won the runoff in a fair fight. If the seat is lost, blame the GOP-E, not the Tea Party.

That's the whole problem. Agreed, a McCain or a Romney administration would have been less corrupt than Soetoro's but the cause of Progressivism would still have been advanced.
Do you think McCain or Romney would've vetoed Socialized Medicine? Hell no.
Do you think McCain or Romney would've cut spending? Hell no.

Yes, I can see how Nancy Pelosi would be so much better as House Majority Leader... (/sarc on my part — but you are serious!!!)
Yes putting people like Lindsey Graham and John McCain in office to reach across the aisle,compromise,and make agreements with the democrats because we need to get something done. Please note compromise always means giving up the conservative position and accepting 90% of the democratic position.Yes, gang of eight, Bohner funding everything Obama wants, caving on conservative positions every time the media echoes the democrat’s talking points as news and trashing conservative in the primaries but running a “decent and civil campaign” against the democrats in the general election that’s the choice. The “you needs us where going to go?” attitude along with “we know best we’ll tell you what we and the Chamber of Commerce decide you just show up at the polls and send in your checks.” You mean that choice? Name one time when the lady from Maine ever stood up or voted against Harry Reid? I’m sorry but Bob Michael Republicans aren’t worth my time!
