Dear “Conservatives” and “Establishment Republicans,”
I write today in the hope you all can get over whatever anger, distrust or bruised egos this primary season and political year has caused you. We on the right need to unite and send a message to progressives by unambiguously retaking the U.S. Senate in November.
We all have some problem with what’s happened so far. Someone we liked lost a primary. Someone we didn’t won. Some piece of legislation we hate passed; some other piece we liked did not. No one is completely happy, but we all know things can get much worse – and will if we don’t put aside what divides and do what we must for the cause of liberty.
The political right has a habit of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. This is exemplified by libertarians, and it’s the fast track to political irrelevancy.
Libertarians will hate that I’ve placed them on the right of the political spectrum, and indeed many of today’s libertarians indeed have no political home and are all over the map. Today, the term covers everything from the great Reason Magazine to big-government, socialized medicine-loving Bill Maher. The present day “libertarian” label can mean anything, so it means nothing.
But I’m not talking about those libertarians. I’m talking about the Ron Paul libertarians who were quite comfortable in a Republican Party with which they agreed on a majority of issues.
Back then, libertarians put aside their differences with conservatives and Republicans to work for the defeat of liberals and progressives. All three groups thrived, as did the nation. But now too many focus on the disagreements, the differences, and the scars that come with fighting for what we believe, win or lose.

The strategy is to kick the progressives out of the GOP or make them kowtow to the conservative leadership. It’s really that simple.
‘Sitting out an election’ is a phrase. Conservatives will not ‘sit out an election’, they will vote conservatives. If there are no conservatives for certain offices, then conservatives will leave that office blank or write in a candidate and work to nominate a conservative the next election cycle.
The only time to vote for a non-conservative is after conservatives are in the leadership, there are no viable conservatives to vote for and it is known that the non-conservative is a follower, a placeholder, a useful idiot, a person that does their master’s bidding. For example, Cornyn.
As an analogy, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway owns 26% of Moody’s Investment Services. Why only 26%? Because that is all that is needed to control Moody’s.
Similarly, to control the US Senate, how many conservatives must be members as opposed to how many republicans must be members? A minimum of 51 Senators must be GOP to control what legislation is brought to a vote. But that does not assure the policies and votes are any different than that of the democrats. If the controlling number is 20 conservative senators, then at least 6 non-conservative ‘followers’ must be in membership to control the GOP in the Senate. And what makes members become ‘followers’? Money.
It’s more than just a takeover of the Senate, it’s also about taking over the funding arms of corporate crony networks by reading them the riot act and serving them notice their tax favors are coming to an end unless they fund conservative candidates or selected followers.
Sometimes a follower disavows conservatism in public because their constituency is in a blue state. But they can be bought off to whichever political ideology has control of the money. Such persons are unprincipled for political reasons but can be useful as long as their price is met. And if their price is unreasonable, then they can be told a replacement will be brought into the play. So they will follow at the price offered or else they can defect like the traitorous Arlen Specter.
What if the democrats retain control of the Senate in 2014? If there are significant gains by conservatives in the Senate chamber and they can control the GOP as a minority, then the democrats cannot by Senate rules bring a vote of cloture, and THEREFORE the dems in the Senate can do little except bring cronied corporate interests to the table to apply pressure on republicans that stand against cloture votes. And note that cronied corporate corruption funds are pooled from tax and competitive favors granted to select corporate interests. In other words, it’s a revolving door of corruption, give tax favors and competitive advantages and extract donations in return. The leadership of the Senate has a great deal of control over this corruption.
It may be that the GOP does not gain control of the Senate this go-round. To allow the GOP to control the Senate with the likes of McConnell is to allow his progressive task masters to continue their control of that chamber albeit McConnell is a master of duplicity and will be able to fool some of the people some of the time.
The dems may continue to control the Senate chamber in 2014 as long as gains are made in the conservative control of the GOP membership. Then conservatives are poised to take over completely in 2016.
Those who are prodded to hold their noses as they have been so many times in the past are prodded to cave. Voting for democrats that call themselves republicans is de facto caving.
Did you know that Thad Cochran was at one time a democrat? Did you know that Haley Barbour was a democrat? Did you know that John McCain uses democrats to crossover in AZ primaries to prevent a conservative from winning? Did you know that McCain is in league with democrats? Do you know how many members of the GOP leadership were at one time democrat? Did you know that Arlen Specter was a republican with democrat ties and finally went back to democrats when he was caught?
Electing moderate republicans accomplishes nothing to further the cause of conservatism and in fact deals it a setback.
The strategy is for conservatives to be in leadership. Because so many GOP are not conservative, it will take longer to complete the takeover.
Unity, solidarity and patience are attributes that allow for conservatives to control the Congress and the White House in 2016.
Voting for moderates now will lead to nominating another McCain or Romney for President in 2016. Unfortunately, it will not accomplish a damn thing.
The strategy is in order of preference:
1, Take the US Senate for the GOP under conservative control.
2. Take the Senate GOP under conservative control.
3. Use revolving corruption funds to bolster both conservatives and select followers to strengthen and solidify conservative control in the US Senate.
I know mention was made for controlling corruption funds but unfortunately this corruption is entrenched in DC and it cannot be uprooted unless control is first established. So the corporate corruption is taken as a temporary ally until later when a plan is in place to minimize the nuisance of corruption in politics (like controlling weeds in a garden).
Because their way to prove that only RINOs are electable is to make sure that conservatives are not nominated and, if they are, make sure that they fail in the general election.
It’s a big mistake to allow perfection to be the enemy of the good enough. And in my view, a Republican, even if it is a GOP-E, is better than any Democrat. So actually, I’ll blame people like you, who, out of petulance, decided it would be better to lose that seat to a Democrat.
Nobody is talking about “perfection.” We’re talking about what to do with traitors. Every election cycle we’re accused of wanting a “perfect” candidate. That’s BS and you know it.
Here’s what your side wants...
Suppose the democrats want to kick down your door so they might beat and rape your daughter. The GOPe is offering to walk in your back door with the democrats so they might all beat and rape your daughter. If you support the GOPe, your door won’t get damaged.

Back in the day FR did member polls from time to time. The question of purity versus pragmatism would be a great one to poll.

We are not far apart. I just think we fight it out between elections and in the primaries. Withholding votes in the general is a loser. I’ll take Majority Leader Cruz lording it over a bunch of GOPe types over Harry Reid any day.
Every single Republican in the Senate voted against Obamacare. Every single hated GOPe Senator voted against Obamacare. Every single Dem voted for Obamacare.
I truly believe some of the Replicrats would have crossed the aisle and voted for O-Care if there weren’t enough Democrats.

In the 18th century, I imagine the pragmatists in the GOP would have supported this man wholeheartedly.
I mean, he did the pragmatic thing when Congress failed to accept Britain's 1778 proposal to grant full self-governance in the colonies, right? Wouldn't that have been the proper way to go? When he was offered command of West Point, it made perfect sense to surrender the fort to the British, no?

She’s a human being, and like me makes horrible mistakes once in a while.
