Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung hit by massive gas explosion

Deaths reported after leak in sewerage system causes 'white fog' which exploded

At least 15 people have been killed and more than 230 injured by explosions in a southern Taiwanese city thought to have been caused by a gas leak in the sewerage system.

Witnesses said that gas leaks began at about 9pm local time in Kaohsiung. The leaking gas formed a white fog, which then ignited and sparked massive explosions on several streets, China's Central News Agency reported.

We had an alternate for HKG in that area. Probably no sewer lines under the airport...
Still flying??

“White fog”
A visible fahrt!
Methane than can be seen, can certainly be smelt.
I wonder if anyone yelled at a cop, “Hey! Get a whiff a that!
Ain’t that potentially explosive sewer gas?”
Maybe add another exclamation mark.

Take care. Nice to see a post from you, I’ve been travelling too much.

Major devastation in K-town.
Gas leak just ripped up the middle of the streets and went up like a thermobaric bomb.

Isn’t it the stronghold of DPP and Taiwanese mobs?

DPP does have a presence in K-Town, but they are the 2nd largest political party so they are, really, everywhere.
As to "mobs", organized crime is extremely strong here - especially in the construction trades.
But unless you are involved with them in some way, you would not be aware of their existence. But they are very powerful on the upper levels of gov't.
Taoyuan and Taichung are two of the more notable mob-cities - gov't and influence peddling.
Well, and Taipei, of course. That is where the gov't headquarters are located.
