Amid opposition by Sen. Ted Cruz, House GOP border funding bill stalls

House Speaker John A. Boehner was always expected to have trouble passing emergency funds for the crisis at the Southwestern border -- but Republican Sen. Ted Cruz made his job impossible.

Cruz, the hard-line Texas Republican, has been working behind the scenes to stir up conservative opposition to a House GOP plan to approve $659 million to secure the border and handle the flow of unaccompanied immigrant youths.

And it worked. Amid disarray, House GOP leaders canceled Thursday's vote after it was clear they did not have the votes.

House GOP leaders bristled at the senator's interference on their turf. Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.) said Cruz had "hijacked" the Republican Party. Democrats jokingly referred to "Speaker Cruz."

It must not be much of a bill if one conservative senator from Texas
provides leadership on this bill.

God bless Cruz!

Cruz and Sessions are responsible for getting the word out that this bill is really just a capitulation to Obama.

Anybody who thinks this bill would in any way go toward securing the border is beyond hopeless. Not while this administration is scripting the collapse.

If it’s going to be done the states are going to have to step up to the plate. There’s a lot of anger out there, but I have my doubts as most of these governors are too cowardly.

Not just a prayer list. He needs to be President in 2016, even if we all have to write him in.

An incredibly dishonest ‘report’.
Anuthing to ‘get’ Ted Cruz!

An informative report:
http://blogs.rollcall.com/218/immigration-news-new-border-funding-bill/?dcz=
“... The House GOP initially thought it would be voting on language identical to that contained in a pair of bills sponsored by Republicans Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee that would prevent the government from spending any more money on the DACA program. The text of Blackburn’s bill, however, was quietly changed on Wednesday night to only prohibit the government from issuing “guidance, memorandums, policies, or other similar instruments” relating to the initiative.

“It weakened it, it watered it down, and that became a problem,” said Rep. John Fleming of Louisiana.
Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama said the new language “seemed to legalize the president issuing work permits to illegal aliens.”
Those Republicans want the original Cruz version, or nothing...”

Isn’t it amazing how much one guy with a brain, some cahonies and leadership skills can get accomplished in that cesspool of sycophants (Republican and Democrat) known as Capitol Hill.
