Makes no sense. Crimea is a long way from the fighting, Russia would have to deploy through Ukraine territory and stuff has to be sent to Crimea via boat.

Exactly. The route defies geography.

It's akin to Delaware shipping arms to New Jersey via Long Island.

RUSSIA builds up military equipment on the border with the Sumy area
According to the NATIONAL SECURITY and DEFENSE COUNCIL, the Russian armed forces in the Kursk region prepared firing positions for shelling of Ukrainian territories

About this informed the speaker clearing house national security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Lysenko at a news briefing.

“In a wooded area near the village of Kosino, Kursk region of Russia, the Russians are firing positions for shelling the territory of Ukraine. At 2 km from the border with the Sumy area displayed signs reading “firing line”, “Lysenko said.

A representative of UNSD reported that the Russian army has modernized its military equipment and troops on the border of the Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts.

In addition, Lysenko noted that near the Russian village of Shramko in 25 m from the boundaries of established positions for eight combat vehicles, and near the village of Seleznevo in 50 m from the boundary of the platoon are group of the RF ARMED FORCES with armoured vehicles. On the outskirts of the village Podol-mountain, in 7 km from the border is a military camp.
