Unable to find enough Republicans to pass the bill without the help of Democrats, who are lining up against the border bill, GOP leaders are considering allowing a separate vote on language to prevent a DACA expansion, a GOP leadership aide confirmed. The catch is that the second vote would take place only if the underlying bill first passed. It's still unclear whether the two measures would then be combined into a single bill or sent individually to the Senate, where they are expected to die.

When the issue is immigration, I find no comfort in Ted Cruz being in charge.
In 2000, Cruz helped write GWBush’s immigration policy, which evolved to become the Bush/McCain Amnesty in 2006.
In 2012, Cruz publicly supported more work visas for Texas farmers and ranchers.
In 2013, Cruz wrote an amendment for the Gang of Eight immigration bill that increased H1B work visas by FIVE times.
Finally, Ted Cruz has NEVER criticized our current immigration policy which allows 1.1 million new Green Cards each year, and 750,000 new citizens each year.

Unless I’m misunderstanding the 3 negatives in that sentence (not, prohibit, deferred), this would increase security, not expand amnesty. The problem is the voting gimmick. The amnesty bill must pass first and then they’ll vote separately on the more secure language. No thanks.
What was Cruz’s response to the first DREAM Act executive deferral?
None, that I can recall.
What was his response to the second deferral, the one that allowed illegals to stay if they provide essential “support” (includes babysitting) to a family or household.
None, that I can recall.
The man shows zero sense of urgency on these issues, unless there is a public clamor, which is what Cruz is responding to today.
And, on the issue of work visas and Green Cards, he is completely indifferent to the impact that has on wages and employment for native born Americans.
And, on the issue of 750,000 new citizens each year, he is completely indifferent to the fact that 80% of them vote Democrat.
Was never a question of if; just a question of when.
