Russian President Vladimir Putin does a “good job” confusing the West, as evidenced most recently by the leader’s denial that his country is firing rockets into Ukraine, according to one former top CIA spy.
Fox News National Security Analyst KT McFarland spoke to Jack Devine about U.S. strategy against Russia. Devine is a 32-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency, along with being president of The Arkin Group, an international risk consulting and intelligence firm.
He says so far Putin’s regional strategy is working in Russia’s favor.
“Plausible denial does not mean credible denial, so he’s doing all the things that could have been anticipated. He is using agents of influence, using psychological warfare, and he is providing military support and denying it,” Devine told FoxNews.com....

There are too many on FR willing to believe Putin. Those of us who have seen this movie before know full well how the Soviets and now the Russians operate. They lie and plant disinformation.
“Believing” or “trusting” Vladimir Putin and not crediting everything said against him by Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry are two entirely different things.
What is the difference then between the Russians and the Democratic Party? I can't tell the difference.
Our CIA is confused, no doubt...but Putin is manuevering to flip Germany out of NATO by provoking 0bama into making strategic mistakes.

I don't trust Obama at all when it comes to Russia. Tough talk is cheap and it disguises what has really been going on with Russia. The Manchurian candidate is transforming this country.
President Obama: "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space."
President Medvedev: "Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…"
President Obama: "This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."

You must live in a fantasy world. I guess using your logic, China and the forces of militant Islamic fundamentalism pose no threat at all either since they are so far away.
You may not have noticed, but our government is spying on us. Reading every email. Recording every phone call. Paying spies and activists to post disinformation online to “adjust” public opinion.
Sending the IRS after Tea Party members. Sending the EPA to raid guitar factories. Sending Homeland Security to confiscate Land overs. Pitting the Department of the Interior against our ranchers.
A radical could make a case that a nuke exploding in DC would improve U.S. civil rights nationwide.
The Breitbart death might raise a question on that. But the main thing is the propaganda machine, with its attendant obfuscation of the facts, the news, the intimidation and manipulation of reporters, etc.
How exactly is Vladmir Putin threatening your liberty or your constitution?
Do you remember the threat that Russia was to the entire world, until the early 1990s, and how much of the world they had conquered and absorbed?
Do you really think you can ignore our enemies and expect to defeat them when they literally land on your shores, for one thing, with global power aligned against you, they don’t even have to conquer you to control you.
I'll say it again, Obama is a bigger threat to our liberty, our constitution, our prosperity, and our country than Vladmir Putin. This country elected Barack Obama twice. Elections have consequences.
So you are just trying to hijack any thread that deals with Russia and Putin to talk about the usual politics.
That's going to be annoying to those of us with an interest in global issues and NATO, and Europe and military and foreign affairs issues.
In getting information, you must analyze and prioritize what you are looking for. Do you think that a group of a dozen analysts can read through, or care to read through, trillions of e-mails? If you do then you are sadly mistaken. Given the vast numbers invoved, analysis, especially keyword searches, are neccessary to find suspicious material, and even then, you have to argue it out with a fisa court if the e-mail ptoves anything. In the world of computing, you have an easy way for everyone from a terrorist to a simple dissenter easily dodging the government spotlight. Even here at FR, it would be easy to figure out the computer which plenty of us post on this forum and take any meaningful action. Under true tyranny, however, a government doesn’t need to spy on you, or prove some kind if guilt, it can order your imprisonment, torture, or death, and make excuses up after the fact.
You haven’t thought through what you are excusing in your post.
When you start a thread with “there are too many on FR willing to believe Putin” you are inviting a dialogue along the lines of what we just had so, no, I didn’t hijack anything. And no, we do not trust Putin, we just trust Obama less. You know, Obama, the guy who said to Mitt Romney “the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years”.
