Doctor who contracted Ebola is in grave condition

A doctor from Texas is in grave condition and terrified for his life after he contracted the incurable Ebola virus he was treating in West Africa, colleagues said Monday.

Dr. Kent Brantley, 33, is one of two Americans in the region who have contracted the deadly disease, which has now killed nearly 700 people in West Africa, according to the World Health Organization.

The father of two had been treating Ebola victims in Monrovia, Liberia, when he began to notice symptoms related to the virus, CBS reports.

“I’m praying fervently that God will help me survive this disease,” he said in an email sent to his colleague, Dr. David Mcray, who worked with Brantly at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

He also requested that people send their prayers and well-wishes to Nancy Writebol, his co-worker at the hospital and second American doctor to contract the disease in Liberia.

Despite being scared for his life, family and friends said he had no regrets and was well aware of the numerous risks he faced when he chose to treat the dangerous epidemic.

“Kent prepared himself to be a lifetime medical missionary,” said his mother, Jan Brantly.

“His heart is in Africa.”

It is a horrible thing what humans did to other humans, but that is not God's fault. It most certainly wasn't His desire to see the slaughter of so many innocents, but again God allows men free will although He may weep at the outcome of that blessing of free will.

This is not a question of whether these people were righteous or not.

I cannot how God intervened, but I believe that in His mercy He did intervene to stop men from annihilating each other. And again, out of the abject horror that men wrought upon themselves, God brought good - the reestablishment of the nation of Israel as a direct result of the horror from WWII.

I reading the Ebola articles over the last several weeks, it is a horrible virus indeed; however, it is not at this point as catastrophic as the fear driven media is showing it to be. 900+ people have died, and many more to come, but as filthy, un-sanitary as some areas of that region are, if the virus was as virulent as the media wants to portray, we would already be seeing deaths in the hundreds if not millions by now.

It just has not taken off as the movies/books would have shown it...I think this will eventually be contained like other outbreaks...unless it somehow transitions to airborne...

He is not terrified for his life. What a false statement.

There is a chance in a million or maybe 100 million. There are only a handfull of known survivors.

Not so according to Baylor College of Medicine =>

Mortality rates for EVD range from 50 percent to 90 percent, with death usually occurring as a result of shock rather than blood loss.

Doctor who contracted Ebola is in grave condition

Isn't that what being "in grave condition" means?

Reasonable question.

If you believe that God is God how could it ever be reasonable to question Him in any way. If you don't believe in God it is also, therefore, unreasonable to question Him. He declares Himself "I Am" and we know it's true. Psalm 115:3 But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased.

“In grave condition” implies, ready to be put in a grave, or fit for a grave.

Well, that is the usual expression when the condition is extremely serious.
